Hi All,
Haven't had any spends since I was last on and may not get time today to update as I have to get off to work and it's a late one too.
I only came on to say Sunnyday I am so sorry about your OH. I do hope things get better soon. Sending you loads of hugs. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:
Take care and see you later or tomorrow,

Arg*s. Now I have to work out what I'm going to cook in it!!! Fancy beef and ale or red wine but trying to keep it cheap as my budget is looking shakey.
That's the great thing about a SC though, you can use the cheapest cuts & they still melt in yourmouth because of the long slow cooking.0 -
DH went into work yesterday and the receivers had been called in so as of yesterday he is now officially unemployed for the first time in his life. He won`t get paid the wages that he is due for quite some time and it won`t be much but knowing that there`s nothing going into the bank until the end of the month when i get paid is very scary.
SD
Oh I do sympathise - DH and I are in the same position. We were both made redundant on October 1st and for the first time for both of us, we are unemployed. I'm 54 and he is 62 and it is really tough out there trying to get another job. We are unlikely to get much from the Redundancy office (company is in liquidation) and in any case it is going to take weeks. We should be getting Jobseekers (a heady £102 a week jointly) so this Grocery Challenge is less of a challenge and more of a necessity.
Keep your chin up!
Hugs, Menolly
My first GC shop is today and I really HAVE to come in under budget - wish me luck!Obedient women are never remembered in History!

Its only Day 3, and already ive spent arround £53, half of my months budget =( £22.99 of this was on a new sky remote as my £100 budget covers everything thats not a bill! My husband wanted it to be a "sky" remote instead of a universal one, we use our sky box to recieve the standard channels, we havent had sky for a year!
Spent £12 in Mr T on He1nz Soup, as it was on offer for 2 x 4 packs for £1.50... hoping to make some of my own soup too next week to save some extra money, but we normally supermarket own brand soup, so with He1nz Soup on such a good offer i couldnt resist!
Wanting to start batch cooking and freezing soon, but need to buy some containers to freeze portions in, anyone know where i can get some good quailty/value ones?

Hello everyone
I spent £20 yesterday in the Co Op on some half price Ariel detergent, (£3.50 I think?) some Richmond sausages for £1, a whoopsied quiche and quite a few bars of chocolate! The kids are allowed one bar of chocolate a day which they normally have in the packed lunches & the Co Op had toffee crisps, flakes, snickers and caramels for £1 for 4 so 25p each. (I know, it would be far cheaper & healthier for them to not have them at all!)
My meal plan that I did is nearly coming to an end so I really must try to do another one, pain in the neck though they are to do!
We ate our left over tuna pasta dish last night with some tinned sweetcorn & for some reason it did taste a bit better than the night before! Recovering spendaholic - thanks for the suggestion but it was actually in a white sauce though I think I will try a tomato based sauce next time.
Barney dee- that is quite a drop in your target to your spends last month so good luck with that. Mind you so is mine but I live in hope!
Sunnyday - sorry to hear about your DH's job. I hope something turns up soon for him.
Lindy Loo- I didn't think I liked Hovis bread but have tried some thick wholemeal recently & I did so even with this increase at Farm Foods I will still buy some as it is cheaper than the £2 for two I was paying at Iceland for Warburtons wholemeal but thanks for the info.
Hippeechiq - I've noticed your absence, hope you are ok.
Caroline runner - it is nice for me to see someone else with similar spends to myself - makes me feel not so alone so a big Hi to you!Grocery aim £450pm.Spent £519 August, £584 July, £544 June, £541 May, £549 April, £517 March, £517 Feb,£555 Jan, £573 Dec, £465Nov, £561Oct, £493Sept, £426Aug,£496 Jul, £528Jun, £506May,£498April, £558 March, £500Feb, £500 Jan, £490 Dec, £555 Nov,£566 Oct, £505Sept, £450Aug, £410 July, £437 June, £491 May, £471 April, £440 March, £552Feb, £462Jan0 -
Hi all
After a good start unfortunately lost track last month but am here again to try harder.
Budget for November is £350September £10 a day challenge - £207.39 / £300
October £10 a day challenge - £170.67 / £310
November £10 a day challenge - £0 / £300
November GC - £9.62 / £3500 -
my 1st spend for november £14.03 ( leaves me£15.97 till monday )on bread milk cheese marg milkshake powder biccys on offer sugar and pizza not a lot pizza was a must cos i was cold tired and had been out to an apptmnt and was totally hacked off i'm hoping £4 of my spend the bicccys and one lot of milkshake mix can go to one side for xmas if they don't get spotted by kids will have to stash them if they don't get used i'm £4 ahead as anything i'm getting for xmas and birthdays i'm trying ready hard to keep totals seperate.
With all the prices going up again or prices staying same and packs getting smaller i'm thinking this is why things are running out faster.
I'm thinking of splitting some packs up and trying to stretch them for a few extra meals going to do it with oven chips wedges and anything else that is free flowing in a bag it's all too easy to tip too much out will try it for this month see if it helps it's a bit like those of you who batch freeze meals do and that's not an option for me with my 2 will keep tabs on my plan and hopefully it will work might even try it on other items around the house too2nd purse challenge no040£0 Sealed pot challenge ???? £2 trolley find not counting small coins till end year0 -
Have just ordered from B1g Br4nds using their 100% extra free code, spent £14 incl delivery for amongst other things 12 x 500g of plain flour for £1, hoping this will be doubled to 24 packs, but it said it was 'food' items, flour counts as food surely?
Won't update sig as this will last us month & months, so I'm taking out of my spare change pot, as not really grocery spends - does this make sense to anyone?0 -
just done my weekly shop between fa*mfoods/b*m/moR*isons and spent a grand total of £70.32.........this did include lots of offers and almost £10 of tins and jars for DS 's food parcel and a bottle of Baileys £9.39 (on offer) for christmas for the ladies to share on christmas day, so high but not at all bad. will only be needing milk and some fruit later in the week so should come in aropund the £75 mark which i am aiming for every week.
hugs to sunnyday- thinking of you, hope something comes along very soon and anyone else suffering the same xsealed pot member no :0812011- £306.68 2012-£304.36 2013- £387.44 2014 - £441.43
