Going out for dinner tonight so no spends on the GC but I can see the entertainment budget being blown out of the water
Oh well, must try not to think about the cost and just enjoy it! Me and OH will not be drinking so that should help keep down the cost.
We're having a few people over on bonfire night and I need to do food but ££ is really tight- I was thinking cheap buns, burgers, HM chips and a veggie pasta salad with maybe mayo and sweetcorn. Do people think that sounds ok??Mortgage£148,725 Student loan£13,050 HSBC loan£12,221

Sent my DH out to do the shopping this week with a list. He did surprisingly well! Stuck exactly to the list and wasn't tempted by any CDs/DVDs!
I find that alot of our budget goes on packed lunch foods - my DH has a manual job and eats a mountain of food everyday. What really gets me is how expensive cereal bars are. Unfortunately he loves them so I'm stuck having to buy them. Does anybody have any homemade alternatives to cereal bars?Grocery Challenge Nov £288.12/£250

Hi All, I took my boots back today as they broke tut so £24.99 added back on to my spend, also bought some chocolate drink from a cheapy shop 6 for £1 but realised they were out of date so I took them back too, it's amazing what you will return when you are writing down every penny spent. hello everyone, could you put me down for £170 again for this month, thats for 2 adults, 3 kids and 3 cats.
want over by £30 = £200 last month but that was because the co-op was closing down so was able to get most of my xmas shopping for pennies, we got a large freerange frozen turkey for £4.00 and 2 large legs of lamb for £3.00 each so they are at the bottom of the freezer now and loads and loads of stuff all hidden in boxes in the loft lol.
anyway good luck to everyone0 -
Sunnyday - hope things get better soon and a job is on the horizon for OH x
Cant remember if I posted Nov budget or notso in case I didnt
can I go for £250 for Nov please. Have kept it at the same amount after Oct failure
Have got a huge saucepan of lobby on the stove at the moment and it smells lovely, using lots of veg and some whoopsied stewing steak. So cold here at the moment so it will warm us up later on and will last for 2-3 days - Well it SHOULD do at the very least. :rotfl: Also made an apple and raspberry crumble on Sun and will finish that off tonight. We were given the apples and the raspberries ages ago and they have been lurking in the freezer since.
Had a major panic earlier on as water wasnt getting hot even though it had been on for well over an hour. Was thinking in the region of £££'s to get it fixed:eek: but then decided to take front of the gas fire off and have a look - yes the pilot light had gone out and hot water is back on. PHEW
No spends as of yet this month but am sure that wont last .... unfortunatelyMARCH £62.38/2500 -

Can you not try the R1ver Cottage ones that were featured a while ago, think they will have the recipe on the channel 4 website.
That's what I was going to say. See if you can see the last two of the everyday river cottage shows- one was on breakfast and one was on lunch. They are both brilliant for ideas for example the stew pasty or the cereal bars made by Gil I think....?
Also Sunnyday :grouphug:Feb GC: £200 Spent: £190.790 -
Thanks LannyLee and Wssla00.:)
I got the mashmallow crunchy bar and honey crunch bar recipes of the channel four river cottage website - I'll give them a go. I also got a few recipes from the good food website. Let hope they are tasty as this would cut out about £5 per week on my shopping budget:jGrocery Challenge Nov £288.12/£250
