Bed And Isa Help!!!

Hey People

I have a few Lloyds Shares and am gonna try and get them bed and Isa'd, currently the shares are with lloyds Share dealing, who I have no doubt will not be the best value.

So, I currently have Isa with H-L with about 4500 remaining to use this tax year, then would need to use next years full allowance , then maybe a bit the year after.

Should I transfer them to H-L or do I wait till next year to transfer shares to another platform to Isa them?
Or do I keep them where they are and do it with Lloyds.

I just keep reading that H-L are not good value for shares???

Many Thanks

Paddy Boy

    Been there done that.

I did much the same as you want to do 2 years ago but with iii. I think your shares will now be with Equiniti. What I did is open 2 accounts with iii an Investment trading A/C & a ISA S & S trading A/C. Tell iii what you plan on doing (their costs are very reasonable) they will advise you what to do, IE :- contact equinity who charged me about £11.50 to transfer the shares to iii, also iii will send you the transfer forms. Once in the iii investment A/C you can bed and ISA. Don’t forget Bed & ISA term is confusing, what will happen is iii will sell the number of shares you want to sell in the investment A/C & buy them back in the ISA A/C so there will be a dealing cost and stamp duty. Hope this gives you an insight into the process.
