All depends on spend, I'm no expert but don't get too obsessed with having a high digital zoom optical zoom is better and high mega-pixels don't make that much difference either, depending on uses.2p off is still 2p off!0

hi guys
thanks fro the replies so far.
what i'm after is:
the ability to take vids as well as pics
the ability to zoom
quality of photos good enough to print.
the ability to view photos on a decent sized screen
hope this helps

And how much do you want to spend? That's the most critial factor as that will determine what you can get for your money!
Most digi camers will take vids as well as pics, you just need a big enough memory card to hold it, but SD cards are very cheap, most have an LCD screen, but as cameras get smaller so does the screen.
You probably want one that's about 5MP and about 4X optical zoom, I have a 4MP one with 4X zoom and it takes better pictures then my friends who has a 6MP one with 3X optical zoom.2p off is still 2p off!0 -
as a MSE I want to spend as little as possible of course!
I do have £150 - £200 in mind.
Thanks

Couple spotted on Hot UK Deals:

But try the Fuji refurb shop, some decent bargains to be picked up from there from time to time:

Oh and with that sort of budget you will get a very good camera, I reckon £100 - £150 would get you what you need plus a memory card.2p off is still 2p off!0

I've got a Canon IXUS 55, can't fault it so far. Pictures from my recent holiday look great, colour is superb, especially when compared to my old Minolta 2MP!!
Amazon have dropped the price of the IXUS 60 to less than the IXUS 55 now, so you might want to take a look at that.2014 running challenge 587.4 miles / 250 miles0 -
I to am looking for a new Camera after the previous one (Kodak CX 7530) got left in a taxi on Saturday night :-(
I think it's a choice of 2 :-
Canon Ixus 60
Sony Cybershot W50
Kinda angling towards the Sony as it has a better battery life...0 -
