Stolen Credit Card Question
Comments
-
It would appear that the cards were stolen from the post office, which is more common then they let on. I do like it when the fraudster phone you up asking for information. This happened to me as well!!0

Im getting the impression the person from the CC company didnt really know what they were talking about by telling you it was a PIN entered transaction at 9.50pm buying apple products (i assume at an apple store). I have not heard of an apple store being open at that time of night.
Could be wrong, but i believe it was made online and that they have not got your PIN number, that was probably the whole point of the fake phone call you go today to get your PIN number.0 -
Why not seek professional help for Free?
Call Action Fraud on 0300 123 2040 (Click here for their website).
They should be able to help. Even make sure the Fraud is reported to the Police (which should add more weight to your case).
Good luck and keep us all informed of the outcome.0 -

thank you so much for this I am going to give them a call now and hopefully put my mind at ease. I called our landline people and have had our phone number changed so they cant contact us like that anymore.0 -
sorry if I'm being slow here, but you have told the police, right?0

yep told the police, just waiting on the crime reference number so far just got a CAD number. They said it could take up to 72 hours to get one.
Called Action Fraud but they said just to wait to see what the John Lewis investigation turns up and if JL do think we should pay then to contact them again then.0 -
This type of fraud is very common at the moment.
You will be reimbursed so don't worry.0 -
The Lending Code also makes it clear that you are not liable for fraud before you receive your card (para 112).0

I notice on my online bank account usually amounts going out to companies not recognise? One even being DVLA cheek. I inform BS straight away. £300 altogether but could have been worst if not found it. They are going to sort it out but what worries me is that they will not give me any information how it happened only it was by the internet/phone. I have internet security and I thought paying over the phone was safe? Feel very upset about the whole thing. Is any method safe?:(0

That's fairly typical. They probably don't see why they should and to do so might (in their simple eyes) compromise security even more. It's all a bit like "spooks" on TV, "need to know basis" and they could tell you but then they'd have to kill you. Avoiding bad PR's probably got something to do with it also (especially if staff fraud is involved).0
