parking charge notice

Hi, My daughter recieved a parking charge notice fron a firm of debt collectors stating that they were acting on behalf of a private company. This is the first correspondance that she has recieved on this matter and they are asking for £197. My daughter did not even recieve a parking ticket on the day, although the letter says that one was issued and attatched to the vehicle. We have not responded to this demand as yet. Can anyone please advise us on what we should do?
Jim.
Jim.

Same as with any ppc, file all papers rec'd, don't be coerced into paying and just ignore. Don't say on any forum who was the driver, don't appeal, don't phone, totally ignore and eventually they go away.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

Seconded. Here are all the threads on the board. You'll see the advice is IGNORE the fake ticket:

Read lots of info, don't even THINK about paying it.
Do ask your daughter to read the threads on that link, and to watch the Watchdog youtube video linked in one of the top threads. She should also learn about the letter-chain she will have to ignore (shown in pics in the sticky thread 'PPC letters/scams, what to expect').
It's not difficult to ignore this scam once you've read a load of other threads like yours and realised it really is sound advice. Happy reading!
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
