Still amazed by all the replies I've had so far this really is a very supportive place!
No huge financial changes to report.

keeping a track on food spend on spreadsheet as well as other outgoings, it's going fairly well. A few times this week I've needed food and not had the 'food cash' with me so paid by card wasn't sure how to balance that but decided all need to do is transfer that money spent from food on cards into money box put aside for next months food so I don't spend it twice!!! trying to charge phone at work figured that helps a bit and must add up.

Bad wind on Monday night ruined the partially broken fence so now that has to be repaired along with removal of tree stump at same time as so near the fence luckily the company that we've used before can do both tree and fence so are coming at end of the month to give us a quote, fingers crossed. Can't really leave it as fence shared with a neighbour and the bad weather is only going to make it worse. It will eat into OPs but I'm just trying to reign in all other spending.
Already seeing an impact of the support here along with my new mindset. Checked latest credit card bill recently and hadn't spent anything since the bill was printed which is a first normally I have x owing and y already on card for following month so thank you guys. I'm aware this might be partly due to the cash food system but just thinking about that is bringing my food spending down and making me avoid all other areas of Ms T's e.g. clothes and other random things.

I'm resigned to thinking that OPs might not be very big all the time but we will do the best we can in the situation we're in and surely that will be a good motto to live our mortgage life with!

    How annoying about the fence!

Thanks SmlSave will try to stick to the motto, all be it a long one!:)
The fence is a complete pain but these things will always happen when you own a home so that's not so bad.
DH needs to get tyres asap so hopefully will get at the weekend. Not too worried as although overspent last month spending so little recently that think we're going to be fine and can even see where some OPs will come from in the future when CC for wedding and possible laser eye is sorted out.
Have a good day everyone x

November feels like a really depressing month in terms of money.
Always feels like a long way off Christmas and then new years resolutions that although I tend not to make they feel good/time of year feels v positive.
Birthday in january as well so always feels ok, prefer Jan to November any day.
having a boring day procrastinating about online uni work, oh the joys! x

Had a read of other people's thread's everyone on here is inspiring in some way - thank you all!
Managing to reign spending in and amazed by how little I have spent since starting this diary and then the spreadsheet!
It feels much less stressful to stop spending rather than worry about how much you have spent it feels like the money takes care of itself when you do that!
Reached my OPs target for the year early, very pleased however think OPs may reduce soon so it's still going to be very slow progress from me.

Is it mainly other MFWs that read this or do others have a look as well I'm intrigued by who's having a look at what i consider to be a poor & uninteresting diary?

Love the mortgage overpayment calculator it brings good news!
Just put in my £480 overpayment (which haven't technically made yet) but that small amount works out at saving me £692 interest alone and would make it paid off 2 months early that's huge!

I read other people's diaries and have just stumbled across yours - Which mortgage overpayment calculator is it you mentioned above AnnaBeth? I'd love to know how much interest my overpayments are saving me but I don't know how to work it out. I think it'd be good to know, to keep me motivated.

Thanks and all the best with your MFW journey :)

  • It's the one on the main site.
There's a mortgage calculator with lots of different tabs at the top of it, including overpayments.

It gives you a really good break down of what difference lump sums or extra payments or both make on the long term prospect of your mortgage well worth a look.

Thanks for your best wishes, it really helps being on here without this support I don't think anything would happen!
How do the daily clicks work? I've tried looking for info but can't seem to find what I'm looking for.

here is the link to the thread where I learnt all about the daily clicks on cashback sites. I've earnt a lot this year which i'm pleased with, but this has been from doing them almost every weekday evening and weekends when I can. It's a bit of a committment but people just do however many they have time for.

Have a mooch on the thread if you're interested, ask questions aswell, everyones really friendly and helpful on there.

Daily clicks have really gone downhill though in the last week or so with a lot being pulled, but i'd start with Speedcashback if you are interested. They are quick to pay and you'd get £5-£10 a month from them depending on how often you clicked. Ecasher are good aswell, the rest have lost a lot of their dailys but hopefully will get more before long.
