Had £77 rebate from eon for paying too much always find that odd concept when pay by direct debit but that money went straight into OP account. that was a nice bonus for us this weekend! However haven't fixed energy prices for us are low at moment when try to fix will have to increase payments by double so haven't fixed yet which may regret but paying more than double than current doesn't make sense to me yet.
have energy/electric monitor system from eon quite good to keep an eye on ways to reduce electricity.
Hi AnnaBeth
Hope you don't mind me intruding on your thread but thought I might be able to give you a quick heads up on how we can help you save energy.
We've a dedicated Energy Efficiency team who specialise in helping people reduce their usage. I would have a chat with this team. Give them a list of your appliances and they'll be happy to help.
Ask for a copy of a booklet called '100 ways to save money by saving energy.' It's free and contains lots of useful advice.
Check out our website, too; particularly the Interactive House and the free Energy Survey. More good tips here.
With Direct Debits, we aim for accounts to have as near to a zero balance as possible by the time of the annual review in the spring.
Any credit balance over a fiver is automatically refunded at this time and the monthly payments re-set to cover the ongoing usage.
Looks as though you've already been successful in cutting back as a credit has built up prior to the annual review. :j
Hope you find this useful AnnaBeth. Give me a shout if you need any more info as will be happy to help.

Managed to spend more money than planned today. Bought notebook from work for £5, thought quite a lot as it's not particualrly exciting probably should be asking work to order but seems like a pain and I work for a charity so often find asking for things odd!
Spent £10 on work flowers, £5 had been given by colleagues, wasn't going to spend as much as htat but they were worth it!
Picked up hayfever prescription this evening, prescriptions seem very expensive especially when need tablets and a spray. I can't get my tablets over the counter they're new so prescription only!
DH came with me to collect prescription and bought work some biscuits for £3, I also bought a fitness DVD this evening for £5.93, much cheaper than gym membership which will be over by end of the month, plus v good reviews for DVD and I seriously need to sort self out. Gyms are as evil as I predicted! You need to be comfortable when exercising and for me thats on my own, curtains closed, in the lounge!
Still very hot here, shouldn't complain I know but horrible to work in.
Will be charging phone tomorrow at work so thats some sort of money saving, plus have some cold pasta as cooked bit too much tonight so will now nelwy motivated from this diary go and turn it into some sort of lunch for tomorrow! Funny when I reflect on what I write although not spent much today small unnecessary things add up and it's those that I always seem to have an excuse for!!!Mortgage = £270,000

In a grand plan of trying to see if we will be able to manage on one salary in the future with babies, we have decided in september we will save £1,500 a month. September because DH will be starting his new job then and because we are going to have to pay a lot for cars and a holiday this summer. So will start in september on a money saving journey. the plan of £1,500 isn't my whole salary so there is some lee way built into the plan. Hopefully it won't feel like endless restriction but a time to see what we really can live off if we put our minds to it. It's a time to end the excuses of little bits of money that add up.
Bring on the challenge - in september anyway! Wish us luck, we'll need it!!!Mortgage = £270,000

Great plan for Sept.
We used to save 1000 a month when I was working, my salary was 1850, so it was a good halfway point. It did make losing the other 850 when I left work a lot easier.OPs so far £42,139

Good morning,
Really pleased with yesterdays overpayment we've made £4,049.03 since October last year which has reduced our monthly payments down from £853.39 to £830.87.
Not sure about the loft extension any more as our mortgage term is going to run out around the time we're planning children which will be affected heavily by amount we can borrow if on reduced income so adding more money to the mortgage for loft extension will increase it further. 10 year fixes must be good to avoid this sort of thing however they often have less good rates.
Will try and overpay as much as reasonably possible before children and then see what th efuture holds!

Just checked overpayment calculator and with our overpayments which don't feel as high as they should have been, (seems I've gone to pleased with myself and can do better in minutes!) we have saved £5,677 on interest alone which is pretty good.
Haven't saved any years off the mortgage but the last year has £9,515 due more before overpayment so saving there too.
This is a game which you can't really loose as anything helps!
Will focus on overpayments before children rather than loft, although think we'll get a few loft quotes. The plan to focus on over payments is to hopefully bring down our LTV as much as poss which should help when remortgaging.Mortgage = £270,000
