Oil Filled Portable Heater or Oil Free

Its seem that our wet system Central heating maybe the most expensive thing to run on the PLANET!!!! (uses about 1650 units per month or we have a faulty meter , were looking into it at the moment)

To try and sort the cost we have turned it all off and are using a Halogen 1.8kw heater, our eleccy provider suggest Oil Filled ones as they said they are better.

Looked thru the argos and for 100 quid or so we can get Delongi Dragon 2kw or a Dimplex 3kw Oil free (claims to be more effective than and cheaper than oil filled).

has anyone got any experience with this sort of thing and can offer advice on which is best, We have a very Large living room.

  • There will not be a lot of difference between 'oil filled' and 'oil free' so get whichever looks nicest or costs less. The 3kW will blast out the heat and heat the room up quicker initially, but once the room is warm the thermostat will work and both should keep a fair sized room warm.

Is your CH gas or electric? And are you reading the meter in ft3, m3 or kWh?
A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.
  • We have Electric Wet system for heating but it is so expensive to run , last reading was 1650 units of electirc in a month.

Not sure what t reads in as we arent allowed to read it ourselves we have to get the maintenance company to do it.

We have switched off the Apartment heating and are using a Halogen at the moment but its not really heating the room very well so thought i might try a oil filled or something
