It would all depend on the design life of the mattress. If it is within the design life then the manufacturer should pay towards the replacement or repair. However SN have a get out clause which says that you have to buy the whole divan set (base and mattress) from them. And even if you had then you would only have two years warranty on a replacement mattress, for which you would have to pay 60% of the cost + delivery. And you may end up with another mattress that only lasts just over 2years.

So it may be better to cut your losses, and buy another mattress. But this time stay well away from big brands.

The last Silentight mattress I had (sorry - make that the "only" one) lasted about 3 years before developing problems.

IMO Silentnight make rubbish mattresses based on my survey of 1 :D

I wont be buying from them again.

I was browsing today for a new mattress and I'm glad I had a look here because I was about to buy a Rest Assured mattress but having read the comments I'll have a rethink.

Tim I've noticed a couple of your posts where you suggest avoiding the big brands/stores: can you recommend brands to consider? I'd be grateful for a PM if you feel you can't make a recommendation on the open forum.

    Many thanks.

i bought a silent night matress (magicoil no roll together type) 3 years ago and the springs are totally poking through in loads of places......is this to be expected and time to buy a new matress or should i have expected such a dear matress to have lasted longer????

have started saving for a new one but dont think ill risk silent night again......
We bought a silentnight miracoil 3 pillow top mattress divan set a year ago from Tesco Direct. After about 11 months we noticed it was "noisy". We contacted Silentnight who told us to contact Tesco who told us to contact Silentnight! We eventually got a complaint form from Silentnight which we duly completed. We got a response from Silentnight to say they would give us a new mattress under warranty but that we would have to pay £44 delivery as it was over 12 months old. We negotiated with them as, when we started the complaints procedure it wasn't quite 12 months. They agreed, and we have today had a replacement mattress delivered. Wonder how long this one will last? Not holding out too much hope!! We did wonder if they've had a lot of complaints about this type of mattress as they agreed to swap it fairly readily and didn't come out to inspect the original mattress.
    :)

I'm afraid I can't recommend anything on MSN, as it could be viewed as advertising, which isn't why I'm here.
