HSBC Account Application

I am trying to open an account at HSBC. I have seen that I can do this online. I like to open online then there is no problems if things go wrong.
Does anyone know if I can choose which branch I want the account opened at when opening online?
Also what forms do they require when opening?
Thanks

Normal Criteria:
Application eligibility criteria
Please ensure you can answer YES to the following questions.
* Are you 18 years or over?
* Will you be paying at least £500 per month into this account?
(Should you fail to make the £500 monthly payment required to maintain your account, we will either change it to a Current Account or give you notice that we will be closing your account. If you are under the age of 24, the qualification criteria will not apply.)
* Do you have your salary/regular income paid directly into your bank account?
* Are you happy for us to undertake a credit register search and credit scoring (PDF)
* Can you provide us with identification and proof of your address and one month's bank statements from your current bank?
Once you've submitted your application, we'll send you the paperwork to sign and return to us. We may also ask for further documents to confirm your identity or address.
Also i think you can choose your branch (the holding branch where you would bring your id - is how sort codes are generated) but you should double check0 -
It doesn't make any difference where your account is held - that is purely for the sort code and nothing else.
At modern-day banks you can manage your account at any branch of that bank in the country.0 -
I have recently been looking at HSBC myself.
Only problems I have is that nearly 12 years ago I had an account with Midland along with a mortgage, credit cards etc.
I then lost my job and subsequently lost everything, house repossessed, cards and bank account closed.
I am now financially stable, apart from two 5yr old defaults and have nearly 30 months of positive history with a Cap One Card and a few mail order accounts.
Am I in with a chance?
Any advice greatfully received0 -

I like to link the branch to where I am either spending or receiving money. It helps me keep track on my finances. I forget things easily.
I am due to have to go to another office for my work for a few days a month and want to have an account near that office for expenses.0 -
The branch shouldn't matter - just choose one that's local to you, as others have said you can access the account at any branch.
So you could have your account holding branch near where you live, and use the one near work to pay in/withdraw money.0 -
I recently opened a HSBC Bank Account online and was issued with a sort code 40-02-00. I believe this is their standard sort code for accounts opened online and refers to their Coventry base. When i asked them which branch address i should put on direct debit mandate forms, they said you can put your local branch address down.0

Sorry, but I don't understand how this can help you to keep on top of your finances - could you expand on this a bit please?
The only difference between having an account held at one branch against another is that the sort code will be different. Nothing else changes.0 -

The only difference is the sort code and branch address. Which is what I want. I like to keep the sort code seperate then I can quickly see on my card which account is for where.
I try to do most of my banking online. I just want to have the branch location near to where I am. But my residence is a different place.0
