Copying sim contacts to orange san francisco?

I got the san francisco today which I am very happy with. However, when i went to copy over my contacts from my sim it went a little strange. The contact copied over but with random letters inserted and numbers added to the end of names, etc.
Any suggestions?

btw the way the same things happened to me, although I've since had a replacement phone, and haven't done my contacts yet0
