Hey,

I've got the Sky mobile player thingy with the intention of watching a lot of football matches when I'm away on weekends - but I'm with Tesco and only get 1GB data limit each month.

I know it's hard to say, but roughly, does anyone know how much bandwidth would each match use please?

Thank you!

I tested the usage via catchup tv the other day, I watched TV for 1min and it used almost 10Mb of data.

Sky maybe different, if you have a smartphone try downloading a data usage app. And watch it for a couple of mins then check the data used, it will give you a rough ideal of data per min and just times it by the program length.

But I'd guess you'd use most if not all your allowance in 1 match.

Just double check you are getting 1GB, most Tesco deals are for 500Mb and it's £4 a Mb when you go over.

Cheers, will probably try to avoid it then if I can! And cancel my subscription to Sky mobile toooo

I definitely get 1GB though, maybe just enough for 1 match or so... http://www.pocketgamer.co.uk/FCKEditorFiles//Tesco-iPhone-4-tariffs.jpg

on sunday i watched arsenal v man city full match over wifi and it used about 550mb
  • Not sure about the Sky Player but the BBC reckon a one hour programme on iPlayer uses about 600mb.

The best idea is probably to go into a McDonalds, buy a coffee and use their free wi-fi.

Thanks guys! I think if I was gonna do the McDonalds thing I'd maybe just go into a pub and watch it on the big screen but it is an option I guess...

Was just looking at this but doesn't seem to work with the iPhone, rubbish!
  • Are you talking about the £5 sky subscription package? If so i have it with t-mobile and when watching it it doesnt use any of my internet allowance.
