Help with Nokia 8800 please - Unlocking or Software?

Hi,

I'm with Vodafone and have just broken my mobile phone and am yet to replace it permanently.
I do however have an old phone - a Nokia 8800 Sirocco that I wanna use in the mean time. I've meddled about with it and put in my Vodafone SIM and it works to call and text, both incoming and outgoing.
Now my question is this (and sorry if this is really basic and obvious but I'm not too hot on this kind of technical stuff): the phone still shows O2 on the bottom right of the screen and the Web applications still only offer O2 availability even though I've changed the Netwrok Selection to Manual and picked Vodafone - so what do I need to do to get the rest of the O2 options off so that I can use all features via Vodafone? Is this an unlocking issue (I've tried two unlocking codes but they were rejected) or is it a software issue?

You need to get the O2 settings for mobile web and MMS. You could see if the handset is in the mobileguide on the O2 website (which will give instructions)
If not, you can find generic settings from somewhere like https://www.filesaveas.com or getsettings.org (but you'll need to work out how to enter them)
I suspect the O2 button will always be called O2, but once you have the settings pressing it will go to Vodafone live.
You can have the O2 software removed, its called debranding. Ask about this at a local independent phone shop. (the sort that offers unlocking)
