Hardly a good deal at £15 pm with a 2 year lock in. Plus Net offer a similar price with no such lock in (or maybe 12 month max) and are a quality service.
  • But it is £15 per month with 12 months of those free - i.e £7.50 per month !

E7even are really good - I have been with them for some while now and thoroughly recommend them.

Get cracking - offer only open this weekend

    Cheers

£7.50 a month, but for how many months? MSE constantly warns, "If an offer seems too good to be true, then ................." E7even have been offering incentives for months now, but this one seems ott. JohnF

    PM sent to you Mike.

I must say I'm considering the 1Mb for £10 (net) rather than the 512Kb for £7.50 (net).
Doubling up for just another £2.50 a month is VERY tempting.
OK its £60 up front (£240 instead of £180) but where else is this deal with all the extra services (unlimited email addresses, free domain name, NO download limit) available ?

You've been with them a while Mike and upgraded & extended once or twice if I remember what you've posted in other threads. What's the chance of being offered something by e7even in a few weeks that would be cheaper than taking the 1Mb deal at the outset ?

Basically what I'm asking is, if I sign up for 512Kb and initially save the £60, how likely are e7even to offer a 1Mb upgrade for the rest of my contract for £25 or £30 in just a month or 2 ?

    RE JohnF's comments ..............

I must say I also share a small concern about this.
Maybe they are (genuinely) trying to raise a considerable amount of money very quickly (justifiably for upgrades and improvements) and of course they get it NOW .Obviously those subscribing today still needs it to be working in 2 years time.

HOWEVER, having said that, if I sign up I will pay by credit card and the sum will be over £100 so as far as I can see I will not lose out since if it goes pear shaped Mastercard will give me my money back.

All I'd potentially lose would be my email addresses.
BUT in order to make any future moves easier and not have the hassle (like this time) of changing from a Freeserve/Wanadoo email address to an e7even email address, I'm hoping to use my own domain name.
Then if you move ISP again providing you maintain the domain name and take it with you to the new ISP, you keep the email addresses you already had.

I'm sure someone here must have done it and can explain in greater depth the hows and whys etc. (I might be looking for you VERY soon!)

  • Hi Quoia (PM sent back to you),
I couldn't comment on the chances that you will be offered an upgrade after a few months, but it happened to me and several others - sorry but I guess it is a gamble you have to take - If it was me, I'd wait and see if they offer it to me.

Regarding email addresses, I had the same issue, and you are right that one way out is to have your domain name (free registration and hosting with e7even by the way - along with free static ip address). Another is to do what I have done and get a Gmail address. Gmail now supports Pop3 so you can use it with outlook or other proper email software.

    Regards
    Mike

  • For anyone not wanting to be tied to a provider for 2 years, you could consider EFH Broadband - there is a migration cost of approx £35, but after this it's only £11.75 per month with unlimited download. As with most ISPs at the moment, there is a good chance that speeds will be doubled at little or no cost very soon (obviously BT have got the ball rolling there) so you 'might' end up with £1mb broadband for £11.75.

Also, EFH allow 'like for like' migrations only, but will then allow free swaps to their other packages.

OK, it's not as cheap as the £10 being offered above, but you only have a 3 months initial contract with EFH, so if there are substantial changes coming soon from other providers, you could easily swap around.

I've nothing against E7even and I'm not seeking referral money by talking about EFH - I'm just showing one alternative... :)

Are you sure about this quoia? I can find nothing in my credit card's T's & C's and I have phoned my Credit Card company this morning about this, and they say this "insurance" is no longer available. I thought it was tied up with the Banking Code of Practice but cannot find anything there either. Having said that, I'm not a very expert surfer!
I would like to see this in writing, so any pointers would be welcome.
Oh, BTW, E7 are still advertising this offer on their home page (11.00 a.m. 14th Feb). Will it be there next weekend I wonder?

"Under Section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1977, the card issuer is "jointly and severally liable along with the supplier for the supplier's misrepresentation or breach of contract."

In practice, this means that in certain cases when a supplier does not deliver as advertised, the customer can make a claim against the supplier or the credit card company.

Under current rules, people have the right to their money back from credit card companies if they use their card to buy individual goods worth between £100 to £30,000 which turn out to be "faulty". "

Unless this has been secretly repealed then as far as I am aware I had my "payment condom" in place that offers premature contract termination protection !
