Breaking a T-mobile contract

Hello,

I got a problem and frankly I don't know what to do. Last year (October 2009) I took a 24month contract with t-mobile £25/month so basically its been a year i got the contract now so 12 month left til the end of it. The thing is I m moving abroad (french riviera - nice ) next month and so i would like to break the contract. I went to a t-MOBILE store and the staff told me it is not possible to break the contract even if i move abroad ( I dont believe that). One of my friend told me if i prove that I go abroad they will accept the resignation. (is it true ?). If yes how am I suppose to prove that ? utility bill ? bank statement of my new foreign bank account ? where should I send those papers ? and will I be charged or something by breaking the contract even if the circumstances makes me do that ? and I'll be out of their network so cant even use it.

You can break it, but you need to pay early termination fees. Usually line rental * months left on contract.

Moving abroad is not grounds to cancel your contract without charge its not the networks problem whatever your circumstances in moving may be.

Exhortation

The best you can probably hope for is to get them to reduce the tariif down as much as possible and then pay it off. You don't have any right to cancel simply because you are moving home (whether it is abroad or not).

As has been said, moving abroad is not a reason to break your contract. Tell your friend they are talking total rubbish.

You need to pay off the remaining months as a lump sum - try and downgrade your tariff first.
