Its a little bit of a longshot, but it might work, I've had it fix things before...

Go start > control panel > network connections

Then right click your local area connection which should display here and click repair.

If I'm honest it's rare this fixes things for me, but it isn't unheard of and its almost certainly the easiest thing to try.

Other things you could do are try a different connector on your router or computer, or a different LAN wire if you have one.

There is always the chance of some spyware/virus causing the issue, so running a virus scan wouldn't hurt.

Sorry I had to run off and leave in mid conversation earlier, but I would like to report that all is well now. I was discussing it with my sister and she asked me if I had turned it off at the mains, so when I returned I gave this a go and lo and behold it worked so dont know actually what happened, but am glad its working now.

I would like to sincerely thank you all for your help and advice, this really is the most wonderful forum with everyone being so helpful. Judy
