with that description i would only want to pay £250-300Hi Guys,
I am trying to sell my 1.4 Polo T reg 1999 with 75k+ miles on the clock and was wondering whats it worth now. It coming to the end of its MOT and tax now and is not in good condition with the body work. It has a slight dent on the bonnet due to some vandalism and the front bumper has a crack.
I realise I may not get much for it but just wanted to get a rough idea
m.o.t. it and you could add £150 on to the value0 -
I'd pay only around £250 - £300 solely because it's low on Tax & MoT. If you MoT'd it, It would be far more saleable and might fetch around £500 to £550. VWs hold their value very well, and all that would be letting yours down is the near expiration of the MoT (and Tax, although that's easier to live with iminent replacement!) and the overall condition. Bear in mind people see a car that's nearing MoT expiry date as one that might not pass the next one, and aren't willing to pay much due to this!0

I thought the emissions based tax was only for cars registered after 2002......
Hence why a 2001 Lexus IS200 (£180ish tax) is worth more than a 2003 (£400+ tax)“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

i would defo get it MOT'ed but as people have said it will put the value up be £150 but be careful not to spend that amount on getting it thru its MOT
people always want a disposable car and 12 months MOT is an eye catcherFares Advisor & Oyster Specialist - Newdeal/ukRail Fares Workshop Accredited0 -
I agree, I always buy sheds (usually no more than £600) and have had 26 of the things in 10-years. I consider myself very successful at it, although some might say it would be cheaper to get a nearly new motor and keep it for 10-years. I would do that, only I've never got much to spend and get bored with cars very quickly (part of being a petrolhead?).geordie_taxi wrote: »i would defo get it MOT'ed but as people have said it will put the value up be £150 but be careful not to spend that amount on getting it thru its MOT

An MoT ticket for even 6-months potentially adds £150 to the value of an older car, and although it doesn't suggest the car is fully road legal after having passed it, it's piece of mind and means people like me have to do probably nothing to the car in the six months or so I'm likely to have it for! I wont touch a car without an MoT! I tend to sell my cars when the cambelt is due, lol.0 -
March 2001 for emissions related tax brackets.
