LG TV Warranty

Hello,
Just under a year ago I bought a 42 inch LC TV through Next on credit.
It has now developed a fault with a red line running all the way from the top to the bottom of the screen on the right hand side.
I rang next who said they can't do anything and I need to ring LG and make a warranty claim.
I have been calling them now for 4 weeks. Every time I get through I get told someone will have to call back, which they never do. I have been back to Next who again said it is not their problem. I have sent a recorded letter to LG which hasn't been replied to as yet.
The worrying thing is that the warranty runs out in 5 days, and after doing a bit of research online, the said fault basically means the screen has had it.
Also, after reading, LG's warranty claims are very poor, with most people having to wait months for a repair or replacement.
I would be grateful if someone could advise me on what I can do.
Thank you.

Phone consumer direct 08454 04 05 06 they'll be able to give you further advice. I would hope the fact that you brought the problem to there attention before the warranty expires means they'll have to do something. Surely they can't just ignore you and then say sorry the warranty's run out. Just make sure you put everything in writing and keep proof of all correspondance.0

Your contract is with Next so they have to sort it out. Normally however I reckon going direct to the manufacturer is quicker but it looks lke you have exhausted that option in the short term.
Kick up more of a fuss with Next and if necessary get some proof of dates.0 -
It is Next's problem. Your contract is with them. After six months (you've had the telly almost a year) the onus is on you to demonstrate that the fault is an inherent one and not down to wear and tear or damage, so this might prove to be a problem. But, regardless of that, the seller and not the manufacturer is responsible for resolving this. The warranty is neither here nor there. A telly can reasonably be expected to last at least a year (and beyond). Go back to Next and remind them of their obligations under the Sale of Goods Act. Do not let them fob you off that it's not their problem. It is."Growth for growth's sake is the ideology of the cancer cell" - Edward Abbey.0

So what is the point of a warranty??
I have already quoted the sale of goods act to Next. The woman on the phone said she had never heard of it.
I'll try consumer direct but I can see myself having to shell out hundreds for a new TV0 -

You will have the manufacturers warranty your problem is actually making contact with the correct person.
Have you been on to the warranty page at LG and filled that in?

Spoke to a supervisor at Next who has again told me I need to contact LG as the product is fault and it is in warranty I have to make a warranty claim.
Another call to LG, been told they have to call me back as that is the way they deal with things.
Apparently call backs can take up to 7 days. Explained there are only 4 days left on my warranty and was told that is tough luck!0 -

Surely you got a reference number for your claim? Hav you filled the online form? They promise to get back to you within 24 hours.0 -
I'm surprised, LG are normally rather good.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
