I applied for WTC - 7 weeks ago, didn't hear a thing for 5 weeks - so 2 weeks ago, called in to my local tax office where they phoned HMRC - and was told "Your WTC will be paid within 5 days" - nothing arrived - so last Friday, I again went to my local tax office and again they phoned HMRC and was again told "The payment has been agreed and will be paid into your bank in a few days"
Nothing has been paid in - no confirmation letters from HMRC have arrived.....
What is the next step ?

its all a matter of waiting, thye not quickest.
or give them a call yourself0 -
Thats part of the problem - My speech is limited
I am trying to claim WTC disabled element (16 hours work per week)
I tried to text phone them last week - but had technical problems with the phone / the number
Someone/Somewhere must have an email address for one of the hundreds of HMRC employees ?0 -
I doubt you would get a response via email TBH...
Do you have an occupational therapist or benefits advisor? If so you may be better asking them to help you sort out whatever the problem is, or alternatively do you have a relative parent, brother sister that kind of think that could ring up on your behalf? I have always found them to be quite helpful over the phone and this may be the quickest way to sort it all out.
I assume the money would come in handy but you will also get backdated whatever they owe you, I do sympathise with you though 7 weeks is an awful long time, maybe a trip back to the tax office if none of the above can help."You can measure a man's character by the choices he makes under pressure"Sir Winston Churchill0 -
If you have a disability then go down to the job centre and they will make the call for you and chase it up - they have a specific number which means they get through quicker.
Dont be fobbed off - its in their own charter so make sure they assign you to an adviser that you can refer to.
Tax credits are not the quickest but it sounds like your payment may have either been held up or gone astray so you need help to chase them.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

OK I finally received it - paid into my bank account - on Wednesday - however I have still received no letter confirming the rate that they are paying it at - and the amount works out at considerably less than the expected amount (estimated from the calculator on HMRC's site) - so it looks as if an appeal is needed (another 7 weeks +)0 -

you say that you are attempting to claim the disability (premium) element of WTC . In this case i would imagine that you have only just been awarded the DLA ? Is this correct ?The loopy one has gone :j0 -
No - I have been on DLA for three years - just started a job though0

This morning brought a letter from HMRC with the following (Bear in mind that I put in a WTC claim from September 13th)
27/10/2010 - £284.62
18/11/2010 - £250.31
Then every 4 weeks until further notice £248.66
This doesn't make sense to me - surely, if they are paying £248.66 per month - they should have paid it from 13/09/10 - which means that they owe me ????0 -
No, they dont owe ou. They will calculate your award from the start of your claim until 5th April 2011.
They then spread the payments over that period of time. You will not normally receive a lump sum when payments start, anything owed is spread over future payments.0 -

As Subsoniccoyote correctly states , tax credits are not like other benefits were the payments are back dated from the day you claim and then paid out in a lump sum.
With tax credits you are allocated a total amount you are entitled to.
This figure is then divided by the amount of weeks remaining in the current tax year (from now until 5th April 2011) and payments are calculated accordingly.
I understand that you feel you have not be paid the money (you think) you are owed from 13th September but i can assure you that you have!
The loopy one has gone :j0
