They are good to take the chill off the room and warm your feet up pretty quicjly. In an average sized kitchen, they struggle to keep the space warm. However, if you have a small kitchen, they maybe ideal and in your case it may be Hobsons Choice!

    Horses for courses.

We have a plinth heater fitted in the kick board of a kitchen unit and it is brilliant, but it is run off a Combi Boiler.

If we come home to a cold house, it is where everyone congregates to get warm.
I used to be indecisive but now I am not sure.
  • I am thinking about one of these for my new (very small) kitchen. I had one before in a very small kitchen and it was OK.

Alternative might be an electric towel rail, which I can fit higher up on a wall.
  • thanks folks for the answers......B&Q do one reasonably priced.,..I might think about getting that one x
no wall space for a towel rail either...i did consider this first...we have one in the bathroom...again a very small room

Does a towel rail really give of that much heat?

We are having the same problem at the moment. Trying to find space for a a radiator in a medium sized kitchen. The furniture will be free standing so plinth heaters would be difficult to use.

I haven't had one personally, but have a couple of friends who use them as the only source of heat in their bathrooms. Guess it depends how small the room is, and how well-insulated around the pipework etc.

An old fashioned 100 watt light bulb can be used as a heater ;o)))))
