Nobby24, I have been into Halfords, and got a staff member to try an aerial like yours, it has too big a thread, doesn't come with adapter, and it won't fit, so back to Ebay I think. Thanks anyway.

Non specific aerials normally come with 3 threaded adapters. I *think* the thread for VW, Skoda, Seat etc is 5mm. I know the citroen one fits perfect. Tesco used to have an extendible aerial for about a fiver which gave rather good reception, but the silver finish turned to orange on mine. Good thing about the citroen one is it doesn't look too fancy and looks OEM (like it came with the car).

Had the same problem with my Zafira a few years ago

cut the end off the aerial and used some heatshrink tubing and a lighter to seal the end

    have a look at heatshrink-online.co.uk

Black Heatshrink 3:1 ratio - Online Shop £0.69 each

    much cheaper

If I remember correctly it had a choice of threads but good luck on Ebay anyway.

No doubt someone nicked em, always seems to happen in Halfords, then they reduce a £20 item by £1 when the bits missing were worth the most.

There were about 6 aerials there, I checked them all, 5 had had sellotape or red tape on back so they'd been opened. I found one that was still sealed, (and that definitely didn't have adapters) and blow me down, that was the one the assistant ripped open and took to the carpark! What was wrong with taking one that had been opened already? Anyway it was a 6mm screw, and the socket is either 4 or 5 mm. I know the Ebay ones say the adapters are included so I'll do that tomorrow when I get a chance to sit quietly and sort it out.
By the way I actually got brilliant reception without the aerial for our local radio station - pity I can't stand the drivel they play:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Just wanted to follow up on this thread as I have since gotten a newer aerial to replace the Citroen one. It is a Honda S2000 aerial, is about half the length of the standard one and although it doesn't appear so is flexible. Surprisingly it gives better reception than the standard aerial. I now get BBC Somerset and BBC Bristol traffic interrupting my listening in South Wales. Here is the exact one I got http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110622578285 I believe it is about £30-35 from a Honda dealers. Here's a picture of a Fabia with one http://www.fabia-vrs.co.uk/2008/01/fabia-vrs-s2000-aerial-upgrade.html
