Different question about spam.

Well you certainly make the point for the ISPs encouraging spam in order that you will need to go onto the paid service. With Yahoo you can only block 500 addresses which I reached in about a week so I cannot see that as a useful service.
You say it is not simple but if a Law was passed tomorrow where it outlawed spamming and made it the responsibility of the ISPs then I think you would see how simple it may be after all.0 -
I would like to know how an address such as the following <qjhnkkrx@epomail.com would not be easy for a system to recognise that this is spam. Also you dont know the address until you click onto the email. This address has come through my bulk file which I cannot ignore as it is headed your order has been shipped and could so easily have been genuine.0

If it's come through your bulkmail then it's already been flagged as possible spam. The bit before @epomail may look like gibberish to you but computers deliver email not humans, otherwise it would be even slower. It's impossible to automatically distinguish between all the possible permutations which is genuine. If it arrives in your inbox then you still have the option to notify Yahoo that is it spam -
Did you feel compelled to open it because of the subject header even though you weren't actually expecting an order? Then be more wary in future. Believe me . It won't be the last such email spam you will receive in your bulk folder. It could send an receipt on opening and now they know they sent it to an active genuine email address. So you could be targetted with yet more spam.Or it could have contained a virus which could now be wrecking havoc on your PC. It's a learning process . Welcome to the Internet.....

There already are several international laws making the sending of spam illegal.
It requires the recipients of spam to report it to the correct authorities. If you don't, the law can't help. Just like the police can't help if you don't report a theft.0 -
Then where can I report my over one hundred spam messages a day?Theo_Cupier wrote:There already are several international laws making the sending of spam illegal.

I appreciate what you are saying but I am expecting an order. Genuine messages get sent into the bulk file and the only way to able to know the difference is if you can see the address before you decide to open or not. It is not a case of welcome to the world of email but of not having a choice.Patr100 wrote:

I may not be an expert about the internet but I cannot believe that collectively the genuine ISPs are continually outsmarted by the spammers without reason.0
