Business Car Insurance Help!

I recently took out a multicar car insurance policy with admiral.

My dad dealt with the whole process from start to finish, I previously had car insurance with the company before hand and my dad asked for all my details to be transferred onto my new multicar policy.

I recently had an accident in my car after having it two days to find that my insurance is for social and domestic use rather then business class insurance.

My employer dominos pizza shall be paying for the repair to the third party but it is up to my insurance to deal with my car side of things.

Now the company is refusing to payout as i was working at the time on what they say was social and domestic insurance rather then the business class insurance which i should have!

Thanks in advance for your replies

If your certificate says you don't have business use, then you don't have it. Did you check it? Probably that's it in a nutshell.
  • I havent even recieved the policy through yet.
  • To be honest Andy I feel for you as a broker would/should have drilled you down on whether it was for business or personal use and made sure you had the right policy. Did your dad do it all online himself?

Why are dominos paying the third party costs?

Did your previous insurance have business cover?

If Admiral should have transferred to a multi car policy, and messed up the business use, ask them to explain why they didn't, then if there is no joy, make an official complaint, then if you need to refer it to the ombudsman.

Dominos have a fleet policy with an extension for delivery drivers using their own car/bike.
  • After Lengthy discussions with the insurer they, still refuse to pay out, and said view section 6 from my policy... of which i did when i recieved it, it states the car is not to be used for motor trade or merchandise deliverys?? Would takeaway food come under the merchandise delivery section??

I paid £422 for the year insurance, and only been using the insurance for a month, They have also refused to pay back the money, thus leaving me with no insurance and no money to get new insurance... Is this legal?? I mean if i paid monthly would they still be entitled to the full years monthly payments.

Where do i stand legally on recieving the money back??

You would need to ask them specifically which sentences/pages/sections to refer to, but essentially delivering pizza for work is a business activity and not social/domestic and pleasure.
They have also refused to pay back the money

Do you mean they are refusing to give a FULL refund?
In which case they may be on solid ground if they have provided SDP cover for a month which is what was requested.

You do have the riht to cancel, but you will have to pay for one months cover (which you have had for SDP) and any cancellation fee.
thus leaving me with no insurance

Are you saying they have cancelled your insurance?
and refuse to give you ANY refund? or is it just a FULL refund they won't give?
    It's not completely clear.

You mean no business insurance, you would still have SDP insurance if that is what your policy states.

And did you tell them you had a job as a pizza delivery driver? If not this could be another reason for them to refuse a claim, or more likely increase your premium.
