sounds like you may have an odd setup, can you tell the make/model of this 'modem' and 'router'. Most people have a combined modem/router device these days, one box you plug into the wall + your telephone and it handels everything. Who is your ISP and is it via phone line or 'cable'?

big thank u to everyone who has helped me so far. i have made a lot of progress with the matter. i have purchased the usb wireless adapter and set it up and now have access to my wireless network. i have one final problem. in order to connect to the internet it brings up a programme called RaUi or RaVi?? everytime i switch the pc on i have to go on the programme and type in the wep key (secured network). just wondering if anyone knows how i can save the passwpord so that it doesn't need entered everytime?? thanks again everyone :j
