would like to buy reasonably priced quad band mobile

Hi,
Could anyone reccommend a quad band mobile phone please. I'm off to the States shortly and would like to take a phone with me. It doesn't have to be an all dancing, all singing phone, but one which would allow me to send and receive texts at least. I've been looking at the Samsung C3050 which is basic but gets reasonable reviews and is circa £30.00 depending on where you shop. I have an Asda sim card(vodafone) so presumably I am looking for a phone which is unlocked, so any suggestions as to who sells unlocked phones would also be appreciated. Thank you - sally

I strongly advise you buy a phone in America, to use in America. Texts cost 45p each to send (at least on T-Mobile and Virgin when I went this summer) so its not practical to be sending more than a few texts.

You might find that your current mobile is quad band as alot of the phones made in the past 2 years have been gsm quadband although you might struggle to use it in the states as alot of the network over there is cdma

AT&T offer gsm coverage in the heavily populated areas of the USA. The only places you might have problems are in the midwest states and the central northern states on the border with Canada. The chances are, however, that another company will provide gsm coverage in these areas.
