Help? I have received a parking charge from Central Ticketing

Hi there,
I was wondering if anyone could give me some advise. I went to visit my brother who lives on a new 'ish' build of flats and houses. I parked on the roadside near his property there are visitor spaces but these were full and there were no lines or a sign stating don't park here. When I went to leave I found a parking charge ticket stuck to my car windscreen. The parking charge is for £85 reduced to £60 if i pay within 14 days. After calling my brother out, who had advised me I was fine to park there, he walked further down the road to read a sign which stated that if you didn't have a permit you couldn't not park on the land! So what are visitors meant to do. I got a ticket on a sunday later afternoon. I want to appeal but don't know if I have a leg to stand on - do I? Also, after looking at the parking charge in more detail I note that they have mistyped my registration number! They have the last two letters round the wrong way. Does this, therefore, make the ticket invalid? Some one has suggested just sending the ticket back, stating that the registration number is wrong on the ticket, please re-issue, obviously not including any of my details. Would this be a good course of action?
Look forward to hearing from some one!

Just ignore these scammers. It's no use "appealing" as the whole process is a sham. This is because it's not an independent process. What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0

Start with the top thread and other stickies with info about what to do with a private parking co (PPC) tickets, then read as many other threads as it takes for you to realise the suggestion made by your friend is a waste of time & a stamp. You will soon see that trisontana is right:

Scams need no reponse. IGNORE the bogus ticket and the threatograms from their pet debt collector.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Ignore it. Do not contact them and do not worry.0

Hi All, Thanks for your advise. I didn't realise that these 'parking charges' as they are termed, were unlawful. I am guessing (well, hoping) I won't get all the threatening letters that are to be expected, as they have my reg no. wrong! Fingers crossed. And, again, thanks for all the help.

They can't identify even the registered keeer without the right reg.no. Dummies :rotfl:
Doesn't this sort of example make you despair though. The occupier of one of the residences didn't even know the 'allowed' parking, so how is a genuine visitor supposed to know and how were you supposed to get your so called permit. Is this a sort of 'no go' conclave where outside contact is prohibited?
Is this development in the middle of a City Centre where there might just be the need for some sort of parking control or is this just another opportunist scammer taking the pee?0
