What torch to get?
Comments

There is a strange otherworld in torches which I came across when looking for batteries for an industrial electronic cigarette.
Have a look here:-

I found the torches on here fascinating.
Personally out in th sticks we run either a head torch or a Clulite CB1 (but it is big)

Thanks all! Will have a look at the suggestions. I am not keen on shaky, or wind-up torches. I guess I will go for battery operated one and sounds like LED is the way forward.
Yes, the light on the outside is something we are talking about. We are in the process of buying this house, so once it is done, we will fit the light outside. We do have a light at the front - both in front of the garage and the front door.Spring into Spring 2015 - 0.7/12lb0 -
Nightsearcher make good torches, they are used by the police, gamekeepers, etc (not particually cheap though)
I have a nightsearcher endurance, fantastic torch, was about £25 5yrs+ ago but I've now lost both the mains and car chargers, and replacment ones are almost what the torch cost!!
LED headtorches are handy to have aswell, you can get them on ebay from china for a few quid, most run on AAA batterys0 -

A 3 or 4D Maglite is a "thumpingly" good torch for reasons other than it's light. Keep one under the car seat for "emergencies"
Otherwise, have a look at many of the torches on Dealextreme.
Also, google for " Fenix " for a good range of quality torches0 -

I know you said you're not keen on wind up torches but QVC have a 'good one' :- Item No 563377. Super-bright, wind-up torch from TCL. Charge the torch either by winding it up or plugging it into a USB port. For each minute of winding you can enjoy 90 minutes of light power or eight hours of light from the USB charge. You can even use the torch to charge your mobile phone.0
