I agree about the online shop - my boyfriend did one for me when I was in finals hell as a mix of quick easy meals and treaty things, and it was a really lovely present. Or the Sainsburys card (I think it's called Meal Ticket or something like that) is a good suggestion."A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0

Is it an indoor market that he shops at? The one where I used to live did actually do vouchers, valid at all the stalls. Could be worth ringing them to check.0

Years ago (as a valentine as it happens), a friend sent me an absolutely wonderful and huge organic veggiebox. It was in the early days of veggieboxes getting going so I hadn't seen one before. It was a really lovely present for us as a veggie family and it made me laugh a lot because nobody had ever given me potatoes as a valentine before (or since). :rotfl:
There's also things like Mr T's Deals vouchers. I sent DS1 off the other night to pick up some takeaway pizzas using the spare vouchers I'd got for that particular company and they didn't ask him for my card or proof of identity but were happy taking the vouchers instead of money so presumably you could send Deals vouchers as a prezzie. Being able to afford a meal out with a friend or a trip to the cinema would be a treat if you were feeling down.

I always use vouchers for presents, but the online shop sounds like a great idea. You can get a lot of stuff for 20 quid especially the kind of stuff a student eats and a cheapo bottle of vino and some choccie biscuits would go down very well.0

funkymonkey how luck your brother is to have someone to care about him like you do. i am sure as a student he will appreciate any help you can give him. I have started a student 'bible' for my daughters (basically an how to cook low cost nutricous meals) and some sample daily menu plans.
i never went to uni - but before i got my first home, my mum did me a 'starter box' and when i moved in there was all sorts in there for eg. coffee / teabags / sugar / vinegar / salt /mustard / tea towels / a potato peeler etc. things that would be useful and keep a long time. Oh and the most useful thing she included was a corkscrew :rotfl:Well Behaved women seldom make history

Just so you know OP, tesco dont have a minimum order value unlike asda which is £25 min spend for deliveries. Not sure about sainsburys.
Wouldnt it be good if you could have online grocery orders split into 2 delivery addresses, then you could do your own shop too and benefit from the discounts if you spend over £50.
As others have said, a grocery delivery would probably be gratefully recieved, but if your wanting to get something other than essentials, you could get one of those gift cards that can be used in lots of different shops so he could chooses where to use it, i think theyre called Love To Shop. Not sure where to get them maybe Post Office?
Theres also a website called Justeat.co.uk, you put in postcode, it brings up local takeaways in the area that are part of the scheme and you can order and pay online. Might be a nice surprise for him one evening!
As others have said, how lovely you are to be thinking of your brother like this :AEveryone who thanks me when ive helped will get a 5% share when I win this weeks Euromillions......:p0 -
