Okay, my apologies for the earlier remark ref choking. I became very frustrated by the fact that most seem to think I was after some form of re-imbursement. Morrison’s had already stated that they would do so when I returned the veg and metal fragment.

I am not interested in compensation; sure they can pay for the meal and swede if they really want.

Those that bothered to read my thread would note that I was trying to get action taken, ie products removed from the shelves before someone does get hurt.

I found advise on a similar thread within these forums which said inform the shop (which I did first) and then said inform the papers to ensure action is taken (which I also did). I then was advised (by the newspaper) to inform the FSA (which I did). The FSA advised me to retain the product and foreign object for their use.

My aim in adding a post to this site was to help others who may have a similar problem.

I cannot exaggerate how distressing it is when something like this is, especially when children are involved (this is not harp playing as someone insinuated but genuine concern).

Anyway, I was rash to become annoyed and I appreciate that there is genuine advice provided here. I will not post any further comments until I have an outcome, one way or the other. I still fail to see the motivation for the idiots on here who I can only assume feel some self worth for their pointless posts and scathing remarks. The internet is a good tool and service when used correctly, it is a shame that it can be accessed and abused by imbeciles.
Stupid and irrelevant posts do not really help, I appreciate that my outburst didn’t either but there you go.

Once allowed I will add the pictures of the metal fragment, hopefully then you will all understand my concern.

i would be concerned to if it was my children, and some people in this forum need to grow up and stop leaving childish remarks, i would of outburst too after reading some of the comments,
    Comp wins
£25 worth of costume jewels and a plaq for mothers day
    debt £7374:eek::(
    loans/goods hp £5000
    total £10375 :(:(:(:(:(:(:(
  • That is very offensive, I see no point in trying to contribute to a forum of chimps

    I hope you all choke!

    How rude! :p

  • Quick update:

Lady from the FSA arrived and took the metal shard and the bag containing the remaining frozen veg. She was very helpful and explained that the FSA can visit the actual food producer to ensure they are aware of the problem and look at any potential areas where the metal could have entered the food.

Most important was confirmation that reporting the problem to the FSA helps to prevent the same thing happening again. The FSA work with the producers and companies to ensure that practices and processes are in place so hopefully some good will come of the whole saga.

    ---

The local newspaper also followed up. It was an interesting conversation; basically they normally follow up these types of claims with suspicion and doubt. The reporter confirmed that they get a number of claims which are obviously focused on compensation rather than actually trying to do some good (which ties in with the earlier responses I received on this thread). As it stands I am unsure of how to proceed, the paper has obviously seen the photographs (as I emailed them) so are interested. I feel it is important to get the message across that when individuals are unfortunate enough to experience something like this that they need to go to the FSA. The downside is that I fear I will come across in the wrong way. The request for a picture of the family together was made (it instantly made me think of the remark somewhere above).

Here is my dilemma, do I go ahead and try to get this information published to help anyone else unfortunate enough to have this happen or drop it here for fear of those who will prejudge my intentions?

I think most now realise that I am genuine, I have no intention of making any compensation claim against Morrison’s so please provide a genuine opinion/advice.

I think you need to ask the paper their angle on the article, are they going to go down the 'Morrisons nearly killed my kid!' route or are they going to go down the 'What to do if a foreign object is found in food'

Unfortunately I think we all know the former will sell more papers and that is the way it sounds like they will go.

Its your choice but you need to be careful that they don't exploit you or your family and make you out to be an coimpensation chaser.

I wouldn't, it would look malicious in my view. You have done your bit, now it's time for the FSA, manufacturer, and supermarket to do theirs. If a problem is found, it's their responsibility to inform consumers at risk.

I would only involve the papers, if they don't do this.

This is my concern. I agree the angle needs to be exactly along the lines of informative not a sob story. Its tricky, my gut feel is to can the press angle as it will be misinterpreted and if so it would be a fruitless path.

Thanks Sally, I think your right, I will leave it.

I like you, a sensible poster when things are found in food!

Regardless of general concern or not, people who make comments like this are placing the value of a child's life much higher than an adults. Why should it make a difference if a child is hurt instead of an adult? It should be exactly the same.
