Mobile Broadband in Spain

I use a Vodafone mobile broadband dongle in the UK, mainly because there is no expiry date on the credit. I just enquired about using it Spain & was quoted an incredible £9.99 a day.... I can't believe people pay this much!
Does anyone know the best value / cheapest way to get on-line with my netbook in Spain. I only need 1 week's access, but can live with buying a Spanish dongle if the credit doesn't expire....

You do not say where in Spain you are going , or if you are in a hotel, villa, caravan, and what time of year.
Many hotels have free access, if you are not staying in one, and there is one nearby, you could always go and ask, and offer payment, some marinas/ports offer free access, many cafes offer free access, perhaps even MacDs, these would of course be cheaper than a dongle.0 -

Please, I need to know this too.
I'm going to spain soon to some relatives' and they don't have internet.
I need to bring my laptop and go online but I don't want to go to an internet cafe.
What do I need? one of those USB sticks? is vodafone the only one providing mobile internet???
how does it work and how much do they charge??
thanks !0 -
There are other suppliers, including Orange and Moviestar, however they all charge a fortune. as well as the language barrier of course.
Yes to a " USB Stick ".0 -

which one is better overall? vodafone or Yoigo? I only need it for 12 days
Yoigo is 3 euros a day per use, 100 mb speed, after 100mb a day they reduced speed at 64mb
vodafone seems to be 29 euros 15 days for unlimited volume http://www.vodafone.es/particulares/servicios/modem_usb_pack_prepago/0 -

What you haven't put into your calculation is that the Yoigo SIM card is free, whereas you have to buy the Vodafone pack for 29 euros as you can't get the SIM card on it's own.
So it will cost you from 44 to 58 euros for the 12 days access.
In addition, the pack also has a limitation: After 1 GB upload/download the speed is lowered to 128 Kbps. So it's not really unlimited as you would understand it.
If you pay by the day(4 euros), you may get a larger data allowance, but your first top up will have to be for at least 25 euros. They double you first recharge so that will give you 50 euros. That will cover the 12 days for a total of 54 euros.
Next you need to ascertain as to whether you will have access to 3G at the relevant location and which network can provide it.
Yoigo is on Movistar and will cost 36 to 40 euros for 100MB per day(After that the speed is reduced to 64 Kbps for the rest of that day) for twelve days.0 -
Found this new dongle, called abroadband, amazingly cheap prices, 50p/mb and covers worlwide countries, ideal for the EU.
abroadband.com
Just started this month but looks impressive, 80% cheaper than uk roaming prices. Just avoid MB eaters like youtube and mp3 sites and your onto a winner I think.0
