Which Funds?

Is my time frame too short I could go longer say 20 to 25 years, I won't ever be needing this money.0

If this is your first investment in Stocks & Shares ISA then my advice to you would be to start with a tracker like the HSBC FTSE 100 or FTSE 250. These have exceptionally low charges of under 0.3% pa so your savings are off to a good start compared to funds that charge over 1.5%. It might not seem much difference but 1.2% every year makes a massive difference to long term returns. Mine are held in the HL Vantage ISA.
Once you have a core holding of funds then I would look to more adventurous markets. All above assumes you have cash reserve available to cover 3-6 months bills.
I started off down this route and also built up investment trust holdings via their savings schemes. Very low charges and easy to stop & start payments from £50 pm.Remember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -

I have the following
HSBC FTSE 100 Tracker
HSBC FTSE 250 Tracker
HSBC Pacific Tracker (see the theme!!)
HSBC US Tracker
HSBC European Tracker
Very few funds consistently beat trackers over the long term especially when charges are included. So my theory is that you might as well use trackers to at least match the market minus charges.
Non trackers but core UK holdings
Artemis Income
Invesco Perpetual Income
For more adventurous funds
Aberdeen Emerging Markets
AXA Framlington Health
New Star Technology
Not recommendations but they're some of my holdingsRemember the saying: if it looks too good to be true it almost certainly is.0 -
mate surely there has to be a better fund than health !0
