Best place for selling CD's?

does anyone know of any online shops etc that buy CD's?

I am (or was) a collector of CD singles, some rare, some promos of DJ dance music etc and am thinking of having a clearout/

I dont want to list all individually on eBay as i'll be here til June! (I have around 2000)

Is there anyone that buys cd's that gives you a good deal, and would take a job lot regardless?

Thanks

I've just used Music Magpie to get rid of a load of DVDs and CDs that were going for pennies on Amazon. If you've got CDs that are worth something though then i'd try Amazon as you won't get their full worth from Music Magpie.
  • I got a quote for a few cds on music magpie - they really do offer only pennies. Think the highest was about 30p.

Frankly, I have found selling CDs as collections (even rare ones) is just a great way of getting ripped off by a dealer.

I was once offered £10 for a collection of 8 early Kylie CD singles, which I ended up selling individually on eBay. The cheapest went for £20 and the most expensive went for £81 to a buyer in Japan.

Individually, they went for about 30 times what I had been offered by the dealer!

Personally, I would sort through and list at least the rare ones individually on eBay to receive a realistic market price. But if you really can't afford the time, I guess selling the entire collection in one go is your only option, but you will only receive a tiny, tiny fraction of their value, which is a bit of a sad end, after many years collecting, but the choice is yours.

  • i wasnt sure about selling cds on ebay and thought music magpie was the best place to at least make a bit money for something i would have otherwise thrown out or given to the charity shop but i was quite suprised that i sold nearly every single cd i listed on ebay - and if the cds have a barcode you put that in and ebay will fill in all the cd info and put a picture so didnt take as long as i thought it would either

Music magpie don't take singles, just CD albums.

  • There isn't a quick way of making good money from your items, time and money are on opposite ends of the see-saw, you either go to the trouble of selling them individually or offload them to a third party in bulk and get relatively little for them.

The halfway house is to pick and separately list the real collectibles (decide on a price cut-off point, below which you wouldn't bother to list) then dispose of the rest via ebay as a job-lot, or through a (probably London-based) specialist. The ones who bought CD singles used to advertise in the back of music magazines.

    Ok thanks

Tried the barcode thing on ebay and quite a well know cd wasn't even recognised!!

Do Amazon charge a fee like ebay for selling (i would think so?) its just ive never used Amazon for selling before?

Does it have advantages to eBay?

    Thanks:D
