home-made Christmas foodie things are lovely as are pomanders and I love making them..

thin skinned orange, lots of 'Natco' cloves as they seem to not crumble when you put them in the orange, then wrap them in some cellophane from florist supplier...fab gift

I also like buying really nice dried fruit - mango, figs, dates etc and nuts along with very good dark choc/ white choc/ milk choc...

melt the choc and dip half of the piece of fruit in

put a selection in a nice box/cellophane bag and that's another lovely gift

another idea is 'preserved lemons' in a jar, can't remember the recipe off hand but it is very easy and looks lovely..

bottle spices in olive oil in nice bottles for a fraction of the cost of shop bought ones

the same with flavoured vodkas....much cheaper and nicer to make your own

my other half makes masses of jars of pickled onions to give away, they do taste nice but stilll...

  • someone showed me how to make wreath decorations to put on the tree or to be used as gift tags.
You get a jigsaw (either a cheap one from the £1 shop with a ton of pieces or one from home where some of the pieces are missing - like all of mine LOL), then paint up the pieces to look "woody" adding a littl glitter glue looks nice too (like frost), then glue them overlapping in a circle to make the wreath shape (I use a glue gun), then when you have the shape and layering you want tie a ribbon at the top for hanging (I use the ribbon inside clothes for hanging as I don't hang them up mby the ribbon)

    They look really pretty !!!

  • i love 2 make christmas cards for people but my liitle sister does not like traditional crads she prefers funny or modern ones without many words. these are expensive 2 buy and i always wish i could make hers by hand like everyone elses so this year i have come up with a good idea:beer: even if i do say so myself:rotfl: .

she loves the playboy bunny so i searched the internet and found a really good outline picture i then printed it out and then traced the design onto tracing paper i then photocopied the image but increased the image to the size i wanted i have then used it as a template to draw around onto white card i then made a santa's hat out of felt and attached a little pom pom :T then it was a case of mounting this onto the card. it has turned out so well i am in the process of making a dr who 1 for a friend.

this has made a really unique card that i hope she will love at a fraction of the cost of a shop bought 1. i am sure this can be done with other character cards that are always so expensive.:T
