Tesco Clubcard Credit Card - increasing limit???

Options
I've a limit of £2.25k. I built a PC on the card which ran about £1.2k of it in one hit. There's no question that this money will be paid off towards the end of the 12 months.

Thing is, i've only got about £200-£300 left on this card, which was opened in July.

Do they review my limit after so long?

Can i apply to raise the limit, or will this application go against me as i'd be applying after only 3 months?

Bit narked as my gf got a limit of 3k instantly & she's been in debt with cards before.

Some lenders will review your limit after 6 months others after 12, but to have a chance to increase it, you'll need to bring the balance down, they don't like when you are getting too close to the limit

People here do seem to think 6 months is the minimum before they'll consider increasing the limit.

I didn't know girls were allowed credit cards these days. Whatever next!

Unnecessary sarcasm! My gripe wasn't that she'd been given a card but that her limit was £750 higher than mine when she'd been in debt with credit cards before & my history is clean.

Anyway, thanks Stephane, looks like I'd need to take out a 2nd card then.

Perhaps that's the problem - she has a track record that shows that she pays - whereas you do not have this history and are therefore an "unknown"...
My posts are my own opinions based on my experiences and info gathered from sites such as this.

Well yes - she has a history of being able to handle debt and make the payments whereas you do not.

They can assess her risk, but cannot assess yours.
  • The only ones able to answer your query with some degree of certainty are Tesco Finance. Why don't you ask them?

For all we know, she might earn more than you do. :D

I called tesco to enquire about this last week.

Customer service told me they wouldn't consider increasing it until id had the card for 12 months

You're the man of the house. You should be getting higher limits than her. I'd write a complaint, it's sexism. You're obviously far more superior than she is, and it is just totally out of order that she is able to obtain limits higher than you. Actually, screw the complaint, I'd be starting legal proceedings.
