Seller says item destroyed after I'd won

ebay do not need any more money grabbing people. I sell things all the time e.g. £50 dress from miss selfridge went for 99p. I risked putting it up and therefore have to honour this agreement. If the seller had been decent enough to be honest with you I would agree and mutually withdraw, but if he doesnt send piccy make him pay the fees.

It really depends, OP, on how much hassle you are willing to undertake. You could send the payment. But they might send you a pic of it ruined, then you would feel a bit silly! They are likely to just refund it back to you if you do. You can open a dispute but it still won't get you your teddy.

It sounds as though the seller was naive and no doubt you are disappointed but I don't think that warrants playing silly b*ggers to be honest. Its a waste of everyone's time.

this has happened to my mum so many times she has bid and won an item then recieved email saying sorry item is damaged !!!

im a seller and its true i risk my item going for pitence but its my problem and i honor it its such a shame that people do this , its not fair on the winner :9

although i will say, on 2 occasions i have left a pile of things in the lounge waiting to be listed on ebay, and one of my dogs (never quite sure which one or whether its a joint effort;)) has chewed the item so that i can't sell it!

needless to say it won't happen a third time:o
