actually as an ex H&S rep myself I do find it a bit annoying when people say 'H&S gone mad' 'it's all common sense' etc.
As to be fair I agree most of the time, a lot of H&S legislation is 100% purely as a result of ambulance chasing morons who have won court actions against businesses and individuals.
It ISN'T 'a rule for the sake of having a rule', but it's there to protect the idiots and those with no common sense whatsoever for the most part IMHO.
Unless specifically stated all posts by me are my own considered opinion.

I cant get my head around why its so much safer passing you a coffee through the drive through window on a cardboard drinks holder tray rather than grabbing the actual cup ?

Maybe you can explain to me because it does not make any sense to me , you could easily drop it just the same on a cardboard tray, how does it make it any safer, it in fact makes it more clumsy IMO

I've read that and it is typical Health and Safety crazyness, a drink is HOT, its not that hard to understand!!!!!

Are you sure you've read it? McDonalds wasn't sued because the drink was hot, they were sued because they were selling drinks that were well beyond the normal temperate of a drink you would make out your own kettle. The drinks were so hot that spilling it could cause third degree burns, permanent scars and hospitalisation.

well said, people are always saying 'health and safety gone mad' when its actually people who have gone mad with claim culture who have forced companies to react in this over-the-top way.

If there is a slight spillage, it will be absorbed by the tray, not your hand/crotch.

I think the one that sued put the cup between thier legs so they could steer/change gears etc and shock horror it spilled. Hence the tray so unless you spread your legs really wide, your gonna set it on the seat beside you.

And if "your gonna set it on the seat beside you", its less likely to fall over if its on/in one of those card tray things. ;)

There was a thread on here a little while ago about someone wanting to sue McD's because their passengre had spilt their hot coffee all over them in the drive-through. I suppose that kind of thing is why they do it!
  • My first thought was the tray was not for passing from the window to customer safely but to support the cup while travelling if you did not have a cup holder built in your car to stop it falling over and going everywhere.
