Wine giving charity? If they do not want to give wine as an incentive to qualifying people then they shouldn't offer it. I was considering transfering to them (rather than an additional account) but am now wary given that they have taken over 4 months to process wine that was due for delivery in 28 days.

Anyway, my friends wine turned up this week, mine is allegedly on the way. Apparently their system had somehow decided that I did not meet the qualification terms of the offer, but when I highlighted point by point how I met their published criteria, they said the wine is on the way. If you recall, the account had to be opened before end November, pay in either wages or money before end of December (subject to t&cs), wine delivered in 28 days. Specifically referred to 1.1 in their t&C which mentions a minimum £1000 credit. If anyone is still waiting, it is worth chasing them as you may also be down as not qualifying?

    I hope that this helps.

  • well i got my complaint answered at long last. detailed response and apology which helped them win some points back.

and a lovely cheque for £10 for the inconvenience .... that may have helped too ... :T

  • got the wine this week- one week late but after 6 months- thats fine! Have to say the wine looks nice so once baby is born- lovely wine waiting for me to guzzle if hubby hasn't already!

Smile has come through at last- well done! Agree with Anon though- we were either going to go with first direct or Smile- there was nothing in the reviews to persuade us so the wine made the choice (better than coin tossing) and if they offer it then they should stick to that!

Take care all and good luck with the wine!!

Glad to hear I'm not alone. I'm missing my wine too and have chased it up with them 4 times. Felt a bit silly at first but I am now determined I'll get my free bottles.

Adding insult to injury, their easy switch service failed to notify my mortgage provider / car tax people / credit card provider of my new bank account details. As per previous posts, it doesn't inspire confidence and I'm staying with them only because I cannot face all the hassle of updating my banking details with everyone again.

ps I was told lots of people responded to the offer so they had a supply shortage. Was anyone else aware of a UK wide wine shortage (apart from at my house) ??

 They spin some yarns but keep on at them and eventually, the wine will arrive.

That said, they do not fill me with confidence for managing my financial affairs when they cannot even get a case of wine delivered - does anyone know or recall whether there is a minimum term before you can close this account (without having to give the wine back or pay)? I seem to recall that you should have at least £1000 a month going through - not sure that I can be bothered with the hassle once I have my wine!

PS - Before anyone wonders why I thanked Nicjmiller, it was nice to get a response, but also the new Thanks button is right next to the Quote button ... :o

The final wine arrived earlier this week therefore perseverance pays off.
