Smile Wine offer

Options
I opened an account with Smile in November, and took advantage of their free wine offer.

Three months later, and I'm still waiting for the wine. About six weeks ago they told me it would be with me 'soon'. But still nothing!

Anybody else had problems with this sort of false incentive, from Smile or anyone else?

Applied in November, contacted at beginning of January through the online messaging - apology for delay, will pass message on to marketing team ... still nothing received!

A number of us joined at the same time and all are still waiting for the wine - one phoned them up and Smile assistant tried to claim that the wine had not been received as they had not entered the code on the application ... there was no code to enter indicated on the webpage! Fortunately, I have a print out of the offer (Google's cache is excellent in these situations!) as evidence. Still waiting though ...

Given the delays they should be increasing the number of bottles!

  • no problems with incentives but i have in the last 3 weeks i have spoken to 4 different people at smile who have promised me the same thing and none of them have delivered.

a letter of complaint is currently winging its way to them seeking a response and also some compensation for the phone calls i have had to make time and again - this is all over the transfer of £3 interest from an account i am trying to close.

smile are on my "never touch them again" list

    they are useless :(

Surprising, considering that all I've read on this forum abt Smile has been positive. Looks like the co-op guys need to get into some sock-pulling!!!

Weeks have passed and no sign of the wine (now nearly 4 months!).

Anyone have any ideas please? I have contacted them and they have passed it on to their marketing team to investigate as they were apparently overwhelmed with the volume of applications. But still, they could tell you that rather than leaving you in the dark.

  • I've just spoken with First Direct and they claim the £25 goes into the account 28 days after opening it with £100 ...... they accepted the HC188 code and will be sending an information pack. What with this and your 18866/1899 info - I can't thank you enough Martin.

Still waiting also- I opened an account 6 months ago and have complained about this 3 times- each time they said we are at the top of their list and the marketing dept. have had problems but, unfortunately not my problem!

To be honest- had a few problems with them so if this does not come off this week (as they have promised e it will be here this week) I will go to another bank and shall let every man and his wife know how badly we have been treated- well, I DO tell people if anyone gives me good service so an empty promise along with other things is enough to tell people about I think too!

Will keep you posted and let you all know if it turns up over the next 2 days (time is running out for them though but, obviously they are not worried about it)!

    Good luck all!
