Orange help & suggestions please

Options
Hi

I have been with Orange for about 10 years mostly using just their 2G network and using only about a tenth of my allocated 600 free monthly minutes.

I have recently upgraded to the iphone4 and phoned Orange several times in the first week about not being able to connect to their 3G network. I was told that two local masts were under repair and I would see an improvement when they came back on line.

I have now had the phone for 3 months and there has been no improvement. I cannot use 3G at all so Orange told me to just use 2G which would be just a little slower. However, most of the time I can’t open Webpages and often lose that signal completely meaning that I can’t make or receive calls. It seems even worse now that I have signed up for their Orange/T Mobile log on. I now get messages telling me when I have lost network coverage but no connection to T Mobile.

I have called Orange several times now and after a lot of resistance have managed to get an address to write to. The call centre worker that begrudgingly gave me their address told me that they would only pass my letter back to the call centre to deal with.

I want to know if anyone has ever taken a mobile network provider to small claims court and if yes then what was the outcome. I would argue that Orange only has to look at my phone usage over the past 10 years to see that I do not make or receive lots of calls and that I upgraded to iphone4 because I wanted mobile browsing which I cannot get. I don’t expect to be able to make in depth searches but is it too much to ask to be able to check train times and send and receive e-mails.

Orange won’t let me out of the contract even though I argue that I was misinformed by the telephone staff about what sort of service I would receive and the fact that the service they are providing me with is not fit for the purpose that purchased it for.

I also wanted to ask if anyone has any useful addresses that I can write to at Orange as the one I have according to their staff seems to be an extension of its call centre, the CEO’s address would be a useful place to start.

I really do not want to pay Orange for two years whilst they rip me off so thanks for taking the time to read this and for letting me have any thoughts or ideas.
