    stoozing drought?
consider this: m and s more card. take 100% iof limit in sterling traveller's cheques (1% fee), place amount in high interest account (if bank doesn't levy any charge for this). on £10k this should net over £300.

can anyone see problems with this?
Someone has already done this and it is being discussed in this thread on the stoozing website.

    You don't have to wait.

At the bottom of page 4 (of 8) of your acceptance paperwork is a "For bank use only. Please do not mark below this line" section. Your credit limit is given at the left hand side of the footer, and just before your application reference number.

How did you know about that Yorkshire Boy??! Just went to check p. 4 of our acceptance paperwork to see but of course that was the one that was signed and returned!

It was a (good) guess really, but I always read the small print! ;)

    You didn't keep a copy?

No, as there was a copy of that page anyway, but you're right - I should have done after the OH signed!! (And there I was thinking how organised our paperwork is!)

On a related note do you or anyone else have any ideas about extracting the last few £££s off the card? They've only let us take 6293 of the 7000 limit across 2 BTs (one on app, one on the phone once we knew limit). I've tried to do a BT for £707 through N&P online with our Egg Money card and also the PO card I'm stoozing on (thinking I'd then BT from Egg Money to fill up PO limit again), but both times it says the first 6 digits are invalid.

Honestly, why 89.9% of our limit? It's not as if there'll be any charges since BTs are fee free! Just makes a mockery of the credit limit! I would phone HBOS but card not in my name and OH too busy and not so clued up about BTs/stoozing.

    emcwill,

IIRC, there have always been problems with BT's from Egg Money in the HBoS online area. However, a phone call usually gets the BT put through. Having said that, you may have to limit your BT to 90% of the remaining credit limit (ie 90% of £700) to try and sneak in under their 'radar'.

Why not ask your OH to make the call, go through security, and then put you on to discuss it?

Finally, I would think they want you to leave 10% on the card to encourage you to make some purchases - which of course you shouldn't do as they'll be locked in at around 15.9% APR until you've repaid the BT.

Yeah, thanks YorkshireBoy I think a call is the only way to do it. Since it didn't like the PO card or Egg Money I reckon it's more likely a problem with the N&P site (I tried PC and Mac just in case but didn't work with either). When we had an Amex BA LOB card the online area seemed to allow BTs but then gave error messages when you tried and cust servs then told me you couldn't do BTs online anyway.

And as for spending on a stooze card, they're hidden away!!

Sorry for going a bit off topic.

Without being too nosey, are you and missus YB particularly high earners?
I've never been able to get much more than 20-25K credit card capacity at any point in time. I'm currently running around 11K split between two cards and an interest free overdraft (A&L you recommended me for).

I used to keep the stoozing balance in my flex mortgage but though it gave the best return, it became quite conufusing so now I put in in a dedicated ICICI account.
Apparently I'm 10 years old on MSE. Happy birthday to me...etc

Not particularly, but we do tick a lot of other (stability) boxes...length of time with bank, employers, address etc - and I seem to have a knack for writing a good appeal letter!

Having said that, a lot of my success has come from lucky breaks. When I started stoozing last year, my first 3 cards gave me more-or-less 100% of salary. However, my best break of all came when I threw in a speculative application for another credit card and they sent me two! - with each giving me an additional 40% of salary. That meant I spent most of 2005 at around 180% of salary stoozed.

Edited to add: Mrs YB has only fallen below 100% of salary stoozed once (for a four month spell earlier this year) since March 2005, and is currently at 135% - helping to offset my currently dismal 80% situation.

No - it works fine. i paid the TCs straight into my Nationwide current account for no charge before moving them to savings.

Be prepared for a lot of signatures though - I did £7400 worth, for £74.

It hadn't occurred to me to appeal after being declined. I assumed they had all the info they needed to make their decision (indeed any further info I could produce would probably just highlight me as an obvious stoozer).
However, following your post, I got declined for the Stroud & Swindon card. I gave the appeal thing a go and it worked!

    Thanks for the prod.
