Egypt from East Midland Airport

I've created a map with the relevant places on here. The Hilton is farther away than the Holiday Inn and Travelodge by quite a way. Not sure that the Holiday Inn would be walkable with luggage etc. I *think* there is a hotel right on the site...
Slickster's lovely little map, clever guy, shows the Thistle Hotel if you zoom in0 -
I've walked from the HIE before with no probs (and I'm lazy!). The only way you could walk from the train to a hotel would be to stay in Nottingham City Centre for the night, but then you would have a big journey in the morning. I would stay at the HIE.
Walking from Hol Inn Express to airport with childers and baggage and if it's raining would not be good start to holiday.0 -
Hoxtonbabe I think you need to realise that East Midlands Parkway railway station didn't exist until a couple of years ago.
What is it near?
A power station.
A car park.
Fields
Then a road which leads eventually to the airport.
It basically is in the middle of nowhere and as been said the shuttle bus service is no longer running. If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
When you add in the extra cost of rail travel and hotels how much are you saving compared to going from a more convenient London airport?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

Exactly, a complete waste of money and no thought gone into the planning of this station. The mind bogglesGrumpelstiltskin wrote: »Hoxtonbabe I think you need to realise that East Midlands Parkway railway station didn't exist until a couple of years ago.

If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.0 -

That's significant, amazing what bargains can be found.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
I know! just depends on if one is willing to go all around the houses a little bit, luckly my eldest is 13 so he is quite useful now, would not be going to EM if I had 2 little ones
the £400 saving is more or less my hotel sorted, but I really am torn between Sharm and Abu dhabi or Oman, with the latter 2 the flights are more or less the same as sharm AND from London, but accommodation is more expensive, well kind of, I dont want to do holiday inn over there otherwise the trip to middle east would be same cost as Egypt and I think it will be hotter in Abu and Oman.

Easyjet have their london prices out now for the summer, might be worth double checking before you book East Mids. 0
