Hi,
I have seen a good price to Sharm from EMA (i am based in London)
Am I correct in tnhinking that East Midland Parkway is the closest train station to Airport? I will have to stay from the night before due to flight times and kids and from what I have seen the HI express is the closest to the airport, but states that Loughborough is the nearest station to both airport and hotel??
Anyone in that neck of the wood poine me in the right direction please
HB

East Mids Parkway is the closest train station to the Airport but it is not within walking distance and I believe the airport - train - airport shuttle bus has been discontinued.
You would need taxi from EM Parkway to hotel and taxi from hotel to Airport BUT please check this out with hotel in case they operate a shuttle bus to airport.
East Mids Airport is a nice little airport, use it a lot.

Yes, parkway is definitely closer than Loughborough to the airport. Although it wouldn't work out too much in a taxi from Loughborough if you pre-book (probably less than £20). I presume the HI you are talking about is the one actually on the airport complex?0

Hilton Express is a bit too far to walk especially with children and luggage in tow.
Thistle Hotel is nearest and their website mentions a courtesy bus to airport.
Thistle is very near to airport and is possibly walkable.0 -

Is the HI actually on site?? It states it's half a mile away so yes probably is, if so then would parkway still be the closest?

Goodness, I dont want to walk anywhere!! lol
I just want a hotel that is near a train station and also near to the airport (nowt more than 3 miles) but what I am trying to avoid is getting off at station, getting taxi to hotel, then in morning getting taxi to airport, just end up spending loads on taxis, as I have to do the same on return journey.0 -
I think you are going to have to walk at least a short distance whatever you decide.
Check out hotels in Central Nottingham and the Skylink bus service to the airport.
I think if you look for hotels on Maid Marion Way Nottingham then it's just round the corner to the bus stop on Friar Lane. The buses run 24 hrs BTW.If you go down to the woods today you better not go alone.0 -
I dont mind getting a taxi to the airport. Ideally I would get off at train station (whichever one it may be) and be able to walk to hotel, then in morning get taxi to airport provided its not too far, say no more than £15 (am I making sense??) LOL0

Yes you're making sense but no you can't walk to a hotel near to EM Parkway as there are no hotels within walking distance unfortunately.
I don't walk anywhere so I'm with you on this Hoxtonbabe.
If it were me here's what I'd do:
Get train to East Mids Parkway station; taxi to Thistle Hotel; courtesy bus to airport.
Reverse for return journey.
Book a taxi in advance for East Mids Parkway with Arrow Cars

I've walked from the HIE before with no probs (and I'm lazy!). The only way you could walk from the train to a hotel would be to stay in Nottingham City Centre for the night, but then you would have a big journey in the morning. I would stay at the HIE.Gone ... or have I?0
