I suggested using autoruns, not hijackthis, because it doesn't delete the underlying file, just stops it running at startup

to disable using autoruns you untick the entry, which is the opposite of hijackthis

remind me of the current symptoms.

backing up, and using the factory restore partition would have been much faster, 15 mins
