Hopefully my credit limit shouldn't be too bad. Had my bank phone me friday and offer me a loan, £7,500 no questions asked. No wonder we're a country of debt!
Think my main problem is that I had a virgin credit card for this reason in March 2008 and closed the account Jan this year. Might be a bit too soon to ask them again! If I was rich I wouldn't care about money. Think I should be rich because I don't care about money now! :beer:0 -
MBNA are offering a SBT of 16month @ 0% but with a 4% handling fee. That looks like the best option at the moment.
The Barclay card platinum - not sure if this allows transfers to bank account, can anyone clarify this please..0 -

Not strictly true.
With Barclaycard it's by invitation only for existing customers.
Obviously this is no good for new applicants needing an immediate transfer.

They never invited me - I feel I've been left out of the party. They've made plenty of other offers. Perhaps I have to invite them to invite me.0

I'm hoping to use a super balance transfer to fund some building work for a few months before my mortgage lender coughs up 15K on completion of the work.
I don't need that much, but i'm trying to guage the size of balance transfers available for MBNA and the like, to avaoid taking out a short term loan with huge APR on it.
Any advice is much appreciated..

However, if you don't/might not need the full £15K, and only need a 'few' months, then there are cheaper options.0 -
YorkshireBoy,
Thanks for your reply......cheaper options?
I know I can go the overdraft route, although I don't think I will be able to get enough funds.
It literally will be a couple of months...ie: pay builder, get work verified and authorised by surveryor, council and lender, then await the money back from the lender. So just plugging the gap between paying builder and recieving funds.
Any additional advice is gratefully recieved.
