He won't need it anyway really because if he knacks anything else playing rugby I'll kill him so problem solved! :rotfl:

This cracked me up! It's good to have a plan in place though :rotfl:

Glad you had a lovely birthday weekend and you got such thoughtful pressies from OH :) I feel like I've been a very bad girlfriend as it is my OH's birthday tomorrow and I haven't really given it much thought :o I feel like it's just snuck up! I've got him some CDs (old school I know, but he is 34! and he did say he wants to listen to some new music) and I'll definitely make him a cake, but he insists he doesn't want anything or a big celebration!

We' ve become a bit lax on the money front too. The big picture is looking good - meeting min. payments and overpaying - but slightly less controlled on a daily basis. However I *can't wait* to start overpaying mortgage and saving! It feels like a pretty healthy balance... Makes it a bit easier to rein it in when we need to - hope your new budget goes well Cinny :)

Wendz & CMD, hope you have a relaxing day after sleep deprivation! Your hotel deal looked fab, CMD. Nothing like a catch up with the girls and a spot of eating and shopping :D

Cinny you never cease to amaze me, a metal phobia?! I'll help you out with that honey... send the bracelet to me, I'll look after it for you! ;)

I know, it's silly isn't it?! I'm not as bad as I used to be, but having to hold more than a couple copper coins in my hand still freaks me out. I think it's that warm penny smell that does it, even talking about it *shudder* OH is very loving and understanding of the fear, he even takes time out of his day to chase me around with a 2p coin or drop one down the back of my top. *rollyeyes* My view on jewelry confuses everyone I tell, but then I get confused as to how they can't think the same.

That's how we're planning on doing it though Birdie. Work everything out before payday, then when OH gets paid we'll get the money out of the bank and split it up into different things. And when the pocket is empty, it's empty. I get where you're all coming from with budgeting-state-of-minds but we just don't have the luxury of being able to slightly turn a blind eye to our money. We're too payday-to-payday to not know where it's all going anymore. And as the big brained one says we're going to 'live like no one else, so we can live like no one else'

Good idea, but can I just give you some advice? Make sure if you are going to have lots of cash in the house like that, it is locked away somewhere safe. When we had our house burgled last month, not only did we have the stress of around £5k worth of stuff stolen, but also £150 cash that was in house.
Credit and debit cards can be cancelled, but once cash is gone its gone.
Obviously I hope you dont get burlged though :rotfl:

Hmmm I never considered that Flower (you'd think I'd be a little more paranoid considering OH's track record with having stuff stolen!), I'll make sure that if we do go ahead with our pots of money we'll keep them somewhere safe!

Cinny, I thought you were going to say, 'OH is very loving and understanding of the fear, he even takes time out of his day to... count out my change and swap it for notes/something else nice'... not chase you around with 2ps! Mine would do that too though! Nasty boys! I'm with you on hating the smell of coppers though, I have to wash my hands loads after counting out our change into bags for banking, I hate the smell and the feeling left on my hands, ick!

Just had a really odd tour of the building with one of our project managers, I was telling him about my birthday printer and someone else said that he got a shredder for Christmas which then started a conversation about the industrial shredders here so I got given a pile of paper and the PM took me around the building looking for the best shredder, turns out his favourite one bit the dust a month ago and got replaced with a rubbish one so he's not happy because none of the others are as 'satisfying'! Ahhh the exciting world of IT! :rotfl:

We have a couple of seperate bank accounts for food and petrol - but we do have a 'once its gone its gone' attitude to the food account. If we run out of petrol money though more has to be found. Hasn't ever happened yet though. I find it a lot less stressful to just move that money away on payday and not really have to worry or think about it again.

Not something I ever thought about either to be honest until it happened to us. Would like to think we will eventually get that back in our insurance money, but one month on and our insurance company is still trying to find excuses not to pay out

Oh, fingers crossed the insurance company come good in the end Flower! I know that cash is covered on my contents policy - I hate the thought that they'd try and weasel out of it!

If it was just the cash they were trying to weasel out of it wouldnt be so bad. £5k worth of stuff stolen and so far what have we received from insurance company - a bit fat NOTHING!!
Sometimes wonder why we bother with any kind of insurance, pet insurance was the same when we tried to claim last year.

Flower, that's awful! That's what really bugs me about insurance places is they're quick to take your money from you, but when it comes to them dishing out what you're owed it's a totally different story. I hope you manage to get it sorted though. Ugh!

Thanks for the thought, I do have a couple 'pssh, they'll never look here for pennies!' places in mind. But that was mainly to keep the money away from OH than anything :o I know what he's like!

Got the joys of a pest control man coming around tonight. The ants are back :( It's like we 'kill' them in one place then they just pop back up in another! This time they were wandering about in the living room. On one hand I feel bad for them as our house is spotless (well, most of the time!) and all our food is safely airlocked away so they've got nothing to gain. Had enough now though, and the nice man said it'd only be about £45 to squish 'em :D
