Ahhhh do it, have a baby! Please!!! Seriously though, it makes sense to get all you can from your current job whilst you're still there!
Defo agree with Birdie. Go on maternity from the council while you get the perks. If I had of stayed in Edinburgh instead of moving down south my maternity would have been excellent and I would be on really really good wages.

There is a lot to be said for working for the council!

How is the house coming along Dinah? When is it going on the market?

I just feel like once we have a baby we can never go back to being just us, so I'm really scared of giving up being us and becoming all about the baby, I don't feel we've had enough us time, but equally we'd both quite like a baby.... to say I'm conflicted is an understatement!

Done our budgets for the month, eek! So I'm going to the bank on Thursday and getting our money out of our stocks and shares ISA, and using it to pay for the holiday with the friend, and to pay for the first of the garden to be done so we get that bit closer to getting the house on the market. I figured if we get the garden done for £250, we might save 2 months of morgage payments while we try to find the time to do it ourselves!
    Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81
    Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off

Well make sure it is something you really really want because you are correct. When a baby comes along life changes for you as a couple. It is a way better and more fulfilling life but you certainly won't get a lot of couple time!

Myself and OH were lucky in the fact that we were together 9 years by the time we had Max, so spent all our 20s growing up together and spending time together. By the time I got broody we were so bored of weekends of going out, mini-breaks and doing all the usual things. So we were well ready to become parents!

NIm - how annoying about the tax, that is stupid they have done that after paying you normally!

Tete - you are brave with the mountain climbing!

It is a hard decision to make on when to have a baby. Sounds like you would get some good benefits from your work though Dinah!

Totally agree with you Wendz! It is a difficult decision :)

In a way I am glad baby number 2 was a surprise as I don't know when we would have made a conscious decision to try again. This way, they will be great friends!

Not long left for you for work Wendz. You must be dying to chill out. The little swimming costume sounds so cute :)

Hmmmm.... I think we might have to wait a little longer! We're bored of the nights out, (although not of having people round for parties!) but we love weekends away! I don't even want a dog because it'll be too tying if we want to just head off somewhere for a night in a B&B... But I'm sure that as soon as we had a baby we just wouldn't care about all the luxuries we'd be giving up.

Tink, OH wasn't too unlucky with the changing room robbery, just lost a pocketful of pound coins but they left his wedding ring thank goodness! He never normally bothers using the valuables store so it's so lucky that he did this time! It's the bike that's most annoying, he bought it from a friend for not too much but to replace it will cost about £300... he's most upset about the seat, apparently it was the comfiest seat ever, he doesn't care if the bike never turns up, he just wants his seat back!

I think paying for the garden sounds like a good idea Dinah! Sometimes it really is better to just pay someone else to do something, like you say, it'll get the house on the market sooner which is important!

How's the toenail this morning Tete? Did the doctor rip it off? :pale:

Hope your blood pressure problems aren't too bad Flower... make sure you do lots of relaxing to look after your baby!

If you can stick the job out for that long CMD then it sounds like a good idea, it would be nice to have the money to enjoy the summer with Max. Hope the chat with your boss brings good news!
Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!

The first thing I said to OH when I found out about being pregnant was "oh no that means we cant go to America this year!" :rotfl: we were planning on going in October, so that plan is out the window! Instead the money is going on baby things.

Blood pressure issues should be ok as long as I just take it easy. Still going to work (although I have the day off today) on the condition that I take it easy. Got to be reviewed at doctors in two weeks time.
Have already decided that I dont like being pregnant, when am I supposed to start 'glowing'? :D

Hope your blood pressure regulates for you Flower. My sister's was too high at the end of her pregnancy and she was signed off for about a month. She felt great in herself though.

You will start to feel more energetic from about 17 weeks onwards and by about week 22 you will have a defined bump and feel great. I felt great from about 17 weeks to about 39 weeks the last time. I just got frustrated when my due date passed!

Have you been looking at maternity wear? Dorothy Perkins has a 30% sale today and they look like they have some lovely dresses. I ordered a denim skirt (£10 reduced from £30) from Mamas and Papas yesterday. I couldn't find one the last time I was pregnant and I think they are so versatile for both cold and warm days.

Where did you do your maternity shopping Wendz? I also like New Look & Mothercare for the odd bits. Anywhere I am missing out on?
