Just an option. We're considering having children a bit earlier if the business takes off as I'll get maternity through my job atm, but I wouldn't if I ran my own company. Plus NIM is very broody and he's starting to infect me with it too!Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

Ahhhh do it, have a baby! Please!!! Seriously though, it makes sense to get all you can from your current job whilst you're still there!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0

Defo agree with Birdie. Go on maternity from the council while you get the perks. If I had of stayed in Edinburgh instead of moving down south my maternity would have been excellent and I would be on really really good wages.
There is a lot to be said for working for the council!

Birdie - sorry to hear about your job. I am not overly enamoured with mine as you know!
I have decided to chat to my boss on Friday about when I can
potentially go on maternity and if she can get someone to cover some of the weekends so it isn't so bad. Part of the job is starting to take off which is exciting and Max is really settling into nursery so that is a worry taken away.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

A few things - one being that if I work now and pay off as much of my debt as I can during my maternity leave we will have a chance of becoming DF next year and when we eventually move to Ireland we can sell our flat and buy a house in a really nice area.
Big motivator for me!
Also - I can leave at the beginning of July and have the whole summer with Max and we can skip to and fro from Ireland knowing that we aren't really really tight for cash.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

Hi everyone
Had a busy few days so not had chance to post! Had my scan last week, am 13 weeks today - scan was brilliant and all made it feel very real all of a sudden! Had few problems with blood pressure being low, doctor wanted to sign me off work for 2 weeks.
Very annoying about your tax NIM! This happened to OH, but luckily they sorted it our very quickly and his overpaid tax was repaid to him in his next paycheque.Biggest Loser Weight Loss: 13 / 20 lb0 -
Hey CMD
I was thinking about you and your boss situation. I have mostly had micromanaging bosses in small companies so I feel your pain. I looked around and saw this article. This technique of constant updating worked really well for me. Also I realised my boss needed to point out at least one mistake in everything I did (to make himself feel important or whatever) so I used to leave a big glaring superficial one in, so that he wouldn't go down deep and start messing with what I had written. Although I still wanted to kill my boss at times, it definitely helped me last a bit longer and I thought these techniques might help you too.
Tete, eeek sorry to hear about your toenail!! Will be watching your running challenges with interest. I have been too chicken to start the couch to 5k challengeMaybe when I get back from Kampala.

Ugh NIM i hope that this extra tax (random that they've decided to only start masively taxing you now!) won't leave you short for bills etc!! When I was over taxed, it was amazing to get it all paid back
I want to look out my payslip for this month and see if I think I will have anything to claim back next year as I won't earn anything more before April and I havent earnt much this year unfortunately but on the flipside, that might mean I an due to get even more back (probably not though unfortunately!
Birdie I hope that your OH is ok about being robbed. It's a bit scary isn't it and I hope he hasn't lost a lot. I'm going to remind my OH about how unsecure changing rooms can be and try to get him to remember to use the valuables store or leave things in his car.0 -
