OlderNotWiser: I have mentioned to hubby loads of times about phoning back but as yet he hasn't. I know I could do it but firstly he has all the figures and secondly I'm an old fashioned girl who thinks that money matters belongs to the man of the house.
Why are you even thinking of a loan when you don't know if you are getting all the benefits you are entitled to?
You say you are struggling and your children are without decent beds, but you choose to ignore the fact you may be entitled to more money because you don't think women should take an active role in household finances?
Sorry, but that seems bizarre logic to me! Why are you asking on here if you feel it's your OH's role?
Seriously, get the figures from him and call tomorrow, before you do anything else.0 -

Girlfriend - b***er your husband doing the money, currently you and your children are missing out on money that is OWED to you. Ring the CAB, explain your issues and ask for a home visit if necessary. You can backdate tax credits for up to 3 months if you ask them (they are very accomodating) dont wait do it tomorrow.Free/impartial debt advice: Consumer Credit Counselling Service (CCCS) | National Debtline | Find your local CAB0 -

MrsK looks after the money as I am away at work a lot of the time.
Why should it be up to the man of the house to look after the money, quite a lot of the time we are totally useless at it!I would like to live in Theory, because everything works there0 -
From reading your other posts it appears you have been on benefits for some time, when child tax credits were introduced people on IS had the choice to get their child premiums that were paid via IS paid via child tax credits and you didn't actually do the switch over.outofmoney wrote: »We don't get tax credits. We don't even get child benefit as it is taken off our income support, but that is a different story.
If you were to change this you would get CTC for 4 kids plus a disabled child premium on child tax credits for the two disabled children, and you and your husband would get your CA and the carer premium via IS.*SIGH*
