u have the make/model of camera? can u download drivers from web??

Tried :( I didn't find anything for ages then found a US version. Tried this and managed to get something called Fujifilm USB on my desktop. Its a file full of details when opened. Long list of random files. I can't get anywhere with any of them, some are extra large images of the fujifilm logo, others are applications which go nowhere, there are two DATA CARDS entries which say "cannot open file cabinet" when I try to open and then a long list of codes for security, system file and etc. I have tried a few, they all warn me I am about to damage my system if I open them.

Aside from this, I cannot find the original operating file anywhere online, not even on the fujifilm website. Only an updater version which wont let me upload as it says I do not have the original.

Found a card reader in Argos for £15 and think I will save and get this but am worried my USB ports are not picking this up. Just hope they pick up the card reader.

may or may not work, but uplug the camera from the computer and switch it into 'view photos' mode (where if you want to look at the photos on the camera)
then plug the camera into the pc while still in that mode,
open my computer and select 'camera/removable memory' and see if you see the photos.

this only works on some cameras though so may not work here.
  • An external card reader if you have to resort to such means can be bought apparently at poundland:

But think that's really a last resort and should see what's going wrong.

Thanks everyone for all your help- I was that desperate I went and bought a card reader from Argos! I had £10 in vouchers so only paid the additional £5 (£15 in total) and works very well. I am not sure if its my computer or the camera itself as my computer doesn't seem to like most new media, I have yet to get a mobile phone which is compatable with my computer and I have yet to find out why the camera is not being read or picked up at all.

I need a new camera anyway as this one is so difficult to work with, menus on ever occasion and then the point-and-shoot is so wobbly (never had shakey hand problems before). I should have guessed something was up when I stupidly bought the camera: it was about 3 years ago and on getting it at 75% off in Argos, I was told "under no circumstances is this model returnable". I assumed the cashier didn't know my rights as a customer and ignored him. I so rarely use it anyway that I never really picked up the fault.

Would love to know why though but not sure I have the patience for it!

One of my cameras when connected to the pc calls itself by the camera model, the other calls itself removable drive D, and I get my pictures downloaded by clicking on that. OP mentioned she had removable drive E with images. That wasn't your camera in disguise was it?
